I don't remember seeing condom sales machines in our favorite hotels. There doesn't have to be a big selection but would take the embarassment factor out of condom sales by the front desk (not that that's currently available either). Is there something I'm missing, like a legal prohibition maybe?

It's a good idea at hotels like HDR and SL that cater only to mongers. But I think it's a bad idea at places like Dunn and Amistad, for example. These places have many eco-tourists that have no interest in seeing condom vending machines and feeling like they're staying in some short-time, roach motel used by hookers.

How hard is it to go to the pharmacy and pick up some condoms, or ask your buddy, if you run out and the pharmacy is closed. Most guys bring enough quality rubbers from the states to not have to worry about buying them in CR.

I hear what Brother Orange is saying but feel sales could be done somewhat discreetly. Besides maybe the eco-tourists could benefit too...and they might not want to use the pharmacies.
I posted to get a variety of opinions...so far I'm succeeding.

Just my 2cents worth, they have in the checkout isle at Mas Y Menos, the young ladies checking my items never give it a second look ,nor me for that matter. They probably think another old gringo. The way I see it, I'm making several purchases helping the economy of C.R., and helping a lady put food on the table and clothes on backs of her K*ds and husband.

Never understood the conundrum on this one. Not an area where you want to be cheap, always travel with plenty of quality condoms. Don't leave it to chance that what's at the hotel will be high-quality, in date, available, etc. It's great that some of the hotels offer the opportunity to buy them, but I consider that an emergency plan at best.

Unfortunately, I always wind up coming home with leftovers, though that is because I always bring way more than I think I'll need. Its not like they take up a lot of space in your luggage and you know you'll use them all eventually (plus they make for great water balloons to throw at the Trannies). BTW, don't forget to bring the Tabasco sauce to add to the condom when done too  . How about selling mini-bottles of Diacort  in the hotel vending machines for other unforeseen  emergencies?

bad story for me.....I was staying at the morazan and it was late and was callig it a night (this is when the Morazan had the bar) as I was headed to my room and took a look in the bar as like most nights there were maybe 30 to 35 ticos and ticas drinking in the bar. One caught my eye and I said what the hell....sat down and bought her a beer and the table she was at a round, she invites me to the table and we drink for about 2 hours (its like 4 in the am now) anyway she is a part timer and we get to the point of going to the room.....we gt to the room and there is no condoms left !!! She says she will go get one as I know they have the machine in the mens room....as my bad luck would have it ...only bills I have are 5,000c and 10,000c .....I give her the 5,000c and she is back in 5 mins.....we get right to it and you guest it ....no change  I give her 20,000 for her time ......I now buy extras before I leave the states.
