Good morning,
My friends and I just came back from our first visit in CR and it was a blast! Not knowing too much about CR, our first visit was more of a fact finding mission. We didn't have a chance to actually stay here. We just came across this place on our first night last week when one of our friends was looking for a hockey game. Boy, are we glad we did! We had a chance to talk to a lot of "veterans" and they mentioned this site to us. I wish we had this info before our trip. There's a lot of information that we could've used to save us a lot of time and money. Oh well, trial by error.
My apologies if this is duplicate information since there's so much info on this site but I wanted to comment on the service we experienced here.
First of all, the bar staff was awesome! Especially, Rebeca, Cristine, Betza and Marianela. Rebeca has got a potty mouth her but in a funny and good way. We tried to trade bad jokes with Cristine. Didn't realize how bad our jokes were in Spanish and vice versa. Marianela had a great personality and was very attentive of us at the bar. Betza, didn't say much but always met our demands. However, we did notice that their boss (I think her named was Shirley) was always yelling at them and saying nasty things to the staff. We didn't notice too much but as the night progressed, she just started to get drunk and more abusive. We felt bad for the regular bartenders. They were just keeping the customers happy and doing nothing wrong. At one point, she was dancing with the customers inside the bar area. Anyway, we felt bad for the girls. They were trying hard to keep the customers happy but their boss keep pulling them aside to yell at them or berate them. One of the bartenders said that she was off one day when she was told she had to come in because her boss was sick/hungover. Is this a common practice in CR or Sportsmen's? I'm not sure how much these girls make but I know I wouldn't put up with such abuse if I had to work for her.
Anyways, sorry for the rambling. My mind is a tad scrambled after this week. I just wanted to extend my appreciation to the staff at the Sportsmen's and to all of the "veterans" who made our time there memorable.
We'll be back....very soon!
Hasta la pasta!
