Anyone have any experiences with El Maragato Hotel? Is it chica friendly? A fellow monger (non-CRT) swears by it. |

I haven't been in the Maragato, but a good friend of mine stayed there for a month in june-july 2009 and he said it's chica friendly. I used to stay there when it was "La Gran Via" several years ago. |

It's usually a good sign about a venue that it's listed on the Monger Map. OTOH, it isn't talked about much here. If you stay there, please favor us with a report? Bed firmness, relative room size, staff friendliness, neighborhood, WiFi-ability, when is the live music there?, Chica fees?--anything would be useful. INFO from the Website--2 queen beds for $56 + tax is an attractive price BUT a charge for all Tel. calls? Nice little video imbedded (good music). Sounds like a good candidate for CRT Sponsorship, if they want (as opposed to tolerate) Our Crowd's biz. |

I have stayed at El Maragato 6 times. They have inside rooms, little or no view and quieter then the outside rooms. The outside rooms face the pedestrian walkway, and each room has a small balcony. These rooms get pedestrian noise, starting early in the morning. The rooms usually have 2 comfortable beds, (hard) pillows, and are clean. The bathrooms tend to be small, but clean also. They usually have a small fridge (empty), and if not, ask for one. The tv system was complicated (at first) for a non techy like me. The hotel is above a supermercado. The staff is friendly, and is helpful when needed. I usually buy the doorman and front desk person, a combo meal, at night, once in a while. Having said that, I have never had a problem bringing a guest to my room. I have never been charged a fee. I have asked twice about the policy, and the reply is, "one guest is okay". I don't think they have a official policy. Wifi, was hit and miss, but they were working on it in Feb. Hope this helps. |

A shout-out to Brother PMW for his report. More informed choices is always a good thing. |
