It's also a fare that basically does not change, so searching for a better fare next week won't help. For me, the solution is to not waste my frequent flier miles on trips between CR and the US. Instead I save them for trips between CR and Colombia (or Peru, one of these days).  While a free trip on One Pass from SJO to the US will cost you 35,000 miles, SJO-MDE is only 20,000 miles.
