http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE63540720100406 . Looks like Spirit is going to be the first pay toilets can not to far behind. I thought they start with enforcing the size limits on bags before they started charging for carry on bags |

Saw that earlier today...starts august 1st... they are out of their fucken minds... still ,with all the other airlines cutting back service and filling their planes even though ridership overall is down....Spirit is still the best value....used to be easy to go NYC - soFlorida for 150 - 200 $$ not anymore |

There are several scenarios where it will be cheaper or the same price to check a bag than to carry it on. I think they had something else buried in their press release about charging people extra to board first. * Personal item: Free * Carry-on bag, paid online; $9 fare club members: $20 * Carry-on bag, paid online, on the phone, or at check-in; non-$9 fare club members: $30 * Paid at the gate: $45 Spirit is concurrently lowering its checked bag fees for $9 Fare Club members: * First bag: Old fees $19 online/$25 airport; new fee: $15 domestic, $20 international, $45 checked at gate (domestic or international) * Second bag: Old fee: $25 online or airport; new fee: $15 domestic, $20 international * Third through fifth bag: Old fee: $100; new fee: $75 domestic, $80 international For non-members, some checked bag fees have actually gone up: * First bag: Old fees $19 online/$25 airport; new fee: $25 domestic, $30 international, $45 checked at gate (domestic or international) * Second bag: Old fee: $25 online or airport; new fee: $30 domestic or international * Third through fifth bag: Old fee: $100; new fee: $85 domestic, $90 international |

If this isn't a sign of the times then I don't know what is.....we're being nickeled and dimed in this country everywhere we turn right now, how's the common working man supposed to get ahead!!!! On another note, I did in fact fly on Spirit Airlines on my trip down to Costa Rica in january, found it to be a very nice/comfortable airline....but because of these new developments I won't be flying them again any time soon, make sure you add $45 onto whatever cheap ticket price you're quoted when booking now. ![]() |

Spirit's bottom line is not looking very good. I give them another year before they're done. They have missed several payments on there planes and this info comes right from the mouth of a Pilot. I never flew with them, but with all the BS at the gates (FLL) I guess I haven't missed anything. American may be next. ![]() |

Brother Xman00--They're gonna do what they think benefits them the most. Which toothless regulator is gonna stop them? As far as listening to their customers--Oh please! I am gonna weigh about 20 Lbs. more and look considerably fatter if they do this thing--I just experimented and can wear 10 shirts, 4 pairs of pants and a couple of multi-pocket fishing vests before I have to buy 2 seats. Bring it on, you money-grubbing cork-soakers |

But then they can claim that they have the cheapest prices and so people think they are getting a bargain, and who doesn't shop for the cheapest fair they can find? |

Trust those Micks to schtupp you in the booty after sweet-talk and Whiskey (which evidently they get you to pay for). There's a reason my ancestors left... |
