From about May 1st until June 8th - it would be nice to be able to be near all the, uh, important activities/ venues  . One bedroom or studio (with kitchenette) will suffice. Thanks!

What Brother ID said--Search "apartotels" here or Google for more info. Another one is La Sabana.
And if cooking isn't that important to you, ask our hotel Sponsors (La Amistad, SL, Dunn Inn) if they'll work you a CRT deal on a mostly 1 bedroom for that lengthy a stay. Unless you like to cook, Soda Peru is mighty inexpensive for lunch, desayuno is included at most hotels and there are quite a few CRT Sponsor venues for dinner, as well as the hotel dining rooms. Also look at Harry's Bar Poas for lunch and a lighter dinner. Just sayin'...

Try Aranjuez apartments: http://www.hotelaranjuez.com/apartmentsRates.html

I usually stay in the Standard studio, it's plenty enough for me. Comes with a kitchenette with fridge, micro, stove, etc.

The only issue there is that it's not a monger place. Technically, they don't allow guests. It can be/has been done by a few people here, as long as you are discreet. If you are planning on bringing in a hooker-type chica every night, it's probably not for you. If you can be discreet and relatively quiet, it can work. The reception desk is in the hotel part, so no need to worry there, but there are families (with K*ds) that stay there so discretion is a must.

Here is a really cool place. The owner is a Tico, ex-Marine. GREAT guy. One block behind La Amistad.

Elk, agree this is a cool place but unless the OP has been a recipient of some TARP funds, Tomas isn't cheap for a single traveller. Close to SL for sure, great patio with a large hot tub, and three gates for security. I really liked the place, would be great for a couple of friends to rent. Two negatives, he rations the toilet paper  so be sure to put that on the shopping list  Secondly, his beds were not comfortable at all, they needed to be replaced. I stayed for a week 2 yrs. ago so hopefully he has upgraded.

His published rates:

$95.00/night 1 guest
$115.00/night 2 guests
$125.00/night 3-6 guests

and he rations toilet paper?
