A guy from work is asking me about the cheapest (chica-friendly) hotel available in SJ. He'll be joining CRT soon, so one of those sponsor hotels (like $25-$30/night) will do. I'm pretty sure he's not interested in the Nuevo Johnson.

Are the $25-30 places?

The cheapest sponsors I know of would be Castillo, Tequicia and Freebird.

I believe the Circus Cardboard Inn is no longer a sponsor

Add to Brother Bktuna's short list the Hotel Marrueco's. This is info only, not a recommendation but they are a Sponsor.
Hotel Marruecos between Ave 5 & 7 on Calle 3

And for a cheap dinner, try Harry's Bar Poas also a CRT Sponsor across the street from the Hotel Santo Tomas

The Hotel Freebird is a nice place and in good location. I`m staying there now and it`s going to be the only hotel I`ll use from now on.

The Freebird doesn't have A/C.

I know at night it cools off nicely in San Jose.

Wondering if it would be to warm/hot at the Freebird for my afternoon siesta?

If you're from St. Pete Florida, I doubt if Freebird's lack of AC will be an issue. I cannot remember a time I had to fire the A/C up in SJO....but then again, I'm from PHX..so I'm used to the whole oven thing...

Thanks Chili and Jazz. Are they a CRT sponsor? There isn't one place where all the sponsors are listed is there?

Brother Orange--Is this what you meant? This list of discounts seems up-to-date:
