I know this is a common question and if I did a search I would find much info. But the info always changes. So at the moment what is the best and cheapest way to get from SJO to SL. I'm coming next week. Usually I don't care about a few bucks here and there and I arrange for the hotel to to send someone to pick me up. But last time they sent some guy named Gato, who tried to pimp his wife off on me. When I got in his cab he told me that there was this chica at SL who heard I was coming and could't wait to see me again. I didn't beleive this to begin with and when he told me her name I didn't recognize it. Sure enough the next night a girl at SL with that name comes up to me and says, "Remember me? We had a great time the last time you were here. Let's do it again." One look at her and I knew I never did it the first time. Then after finally getting her away from me I found out she was Gato's wife. I had made arrangements with Gato for the return trip, but of course after that he stood me up. So I don't want to have to put up with this character again. I would appreciate some good current recommendations. |

Splitting the difference between Brother IDs 2 choices is an outfit that books you on Interbus at a discount (they currently are having a 5%-off sale). http://www.shuttlebus.co.cr a shared limo/bus ride, frequently mentioned here And a wild card--Coming down for dental services by our Sponsor Esthetic Dental? Want a ride in a Suburban to the clinic then on to your hotel after the work is done? There you go...Getting back to the airport on the Sad Day is your own lookout though. |

Thanks, The reason I was hesitant to ask SL to send someone again, is because I thought unless you ask for someone specific they'll just send whoever is available. Since I don't know who to ask for I figured I could get Gato again. Also there are several transpotation services and they have all gotten conflicting reviews. So I guess I really wanted to know what color cab to take. and now I remember I took one of those cabs on my first trip to SJ. So thanks again. |

The orange taxis are the official airport cabs. You can't go wrong with an Orange one. ![]() ![]() ![]() Interbus is a good option too, it's only $10. A taxi will run about $24-25. |

Either approach is good. If you have had good experiences with Alex and he is available great. The only problem I see with hotel taxi guys is if they get a trip to the beach that day they are more likely to take that then go to the airport to pick someone up. The orange cab is super easy. Go to the window pay the fare and the driver takes you to the cab you get in a boom you are on the road. Might cost a few bucks more but absolutely hassle free. |

when I get into town I try to have 10,000 on me and I get past the crowd and tell one of the dozen or so who try to get you to go with them (99% of them are parked in the parking area)....never had any problem with them taking 10,000 if they chat and are cool, I will tip them a few bucks.....on the way out I grab any taxi (red) and tell them airport with the meter ....it comes to around 8500 and I give them 10,000 they are happy with the 10,000 |

I had Gato drive me to my dentist appointment 25 minutes away from the SL and had no problems. My 2 wingmen took a tour with him to Jaco and they had a great time. I'd recommend Gato to anyone for a fun time. Cloude |

Mi dos colones.... The only bad thing about a pre-arranged gig like a hotel guy or even Interbus, is the problem if your flight is delayed for an extended amount of time. I guess at that point you just grab an Orange taxi since they are always available. But be sure that the hotel driver is going to say...."Hey man I wait 2 hours for you!". More than likely with his hand out! ![]() Question about Interbus....do you still have to walk off the airport ramp, or do they pickup curbside? |
