Post subject:  Any nice rooms at the Del Ray?
Alright guys, am returning with the wife in May (21st for a week or so). Here is the question. Are there any nice rooms at the Del Ray? We would like a nice suite, money is not an issue. Have heard that the rooms there are ratty. We would NEED AC, and a decent place to lay down. Please send advice. If they are all nasty rooms, we will go back to the SL, or LA. Anyway, I've never stayed at the DR but have seen a few rooms. I think its a dump not to mention I think it hurts your negotiations..

Don't forget the $10 chica fee. That can add up pretty quick.

Best person to ask about the Del Rey is Lee. PM him or look at his blog (the link is in his profile and he has pictures of the various rooms).

I respectfully disagree with the opinoin that staying at HDR hurts your negotiations. I've stayed there 3 times and have failed to see how it does. What I interpret from that theory is that staying at HDR red flags you as a "puto"...that if you stay at HDR you just go to Costa Rica to hit as much panocha as you can. In that I agree. And anyone who feels uncomfortable with being signaled out as a manwhore shouldn't stay at HDR. But I don't see what the problem is if the girls know that we go there to hit. Isn't that why we go?

The only way HDR will hurt you is if you are trying to pick up non-pros.

The girls do not care where you stay. And frankly they don't give a Phuck as long as the money is there...But I have heard them comment countless times..that they would rather be with a guy who is a gentleman than a guy who gapes them with no lube. And on this board..most of the guys who I see describing gapes and gaggs and lowballing these girls with money ARE NOT STAYING AT HDR.

Yeah that's pretty funny. :roll: HDR has suites with balconys, I know Lee has mentioned them on the 6 floor.

There's always cheap charlies that get off more on paying little as possible to the point of taking advantage of them than enjoying time with a beautiful chica way out of their league for another 20 bucks.

Good point. Yes that is (mostly) why we go. Your assumption that chicas will look at us as putos (or more like business) is partially the reason why I say it hurts negotiations. We all have our own ways of going about this hobby so it stands to reason if something doesn't bother you, then to ignore it and keep doing things your way.

Speaking on the "principle" of things, don't you feel its silly to have such a fee? True, its only $10 but then again its not the dollar figure that rubs me the wrong way as much as the principle.

I'm one of the guys who likes to give some resistance to this thing they call P4P in Costa Rica..

All that means is I party and have a good time just like the next guy. But if a chica is stepping up to me and trying to get with me, I see that differently (I guess). The way I see it is why am I going to pay this outrageous price to a chica that wants to hang and Phuck? Again, that may not be for everybody but its how I go about things. So I don't do any low balling because to me that kills the mood. Just as I would expect her to feel it would be a mood killer charging something ridiculous..

I can tell your a guy who has a great time in CR and with the ladies. So I wouldn't change a thing. 8)

Think I kind of agree with Cujo here. The 10 dollars is not alot of money, but more the principle of the matter. I would not mind paying extra money for a nicer room, but would mind a little bit to pay the ten extra dollars every time you pick up a girl. I did see Lee's photos (also Lee thanks for the quick response to the PM), and think at the end of the day we are going to try LA, or return to the SL. I did LOVE the Del Ray, and will just hang out there and bring the girl back with us. Thanks for all of your replies here guys. You all are always an awesome wealth of knowledge! My trip was SO much better with the great advise you all shared. KGK

All the room I have had at the Del Ray compare to something like a Motel 6. Some have a view of the city and some have a view of the hallway. Nothing fancy but they work and everything you need is right down stairs. I hear tell some never even wall out side once they check in. I will add the Jr. suite I had at the Prez was the nicest, cleanest and largest room I have ever had anywhere. One draw back was the 4 person tub and a one girl rule.

Not "period." Since the HDR raised their rates last year, they are no longer a bargain (if they ever were). You can get rooms of equal quality for much less money right across the street at Casino Hotel Morazan. You can get far better rooms at the same price at La Amistad.

My strong recommendation would be to book one of the penthouse (misnamed as they are) rooms at the Amistad. Service is top notch, the rooms are beautiful, the hotel is tranquil... just be discreet with your paid companions, as the hotel is now "serving two masters" (i.e. ecotourists and whoremongers).


You'll get numerous opinions on this, but I tell you this: The Big Frat House (SL), the classy Amistad, the homey Castillo, the small and ultra-friendly Tiquicia and Freebird hotels...you have numerous choices which are better than the HDR. Of course, YMMV, and there is something to be said about the "convenience store" p*ssy market just an elevator ride away.

Does it hurt negotiations to stay at the HDR. I don't think so. I think mongers hurt negotiations more than anything else. Just MHO.

This past Sunday night, El Silencioso and I were sitting at the lower seating area of the BM (by Monkey Bar side) watching the parade. Within about 10 minutes, we watched a "sizeable" gringo walk to the elevator with a cute little spinner and head upstairs. We hit the stop watch and bet on the over/under. I won! She was back in the bar in 28 minutes. He came back down in 32 minutes, wearing different clothes and his hair was still wet from the shower.

I don't think staying at the HDR will hurt you with the chica's when it comes to price, but it may hurt you when it comes to getting consistent clock watchers. Just my dos colones. YMMV...

This is def in the top 5 reasons why I say it hurts negotiations. Because after all, performance is part of the negotiation. I mean, are we trying to save $20 or get down.....? However, if the bottom dollar is what some guys are after, I can see the allure of a quick return helping in terms of final price.

So the term "hurt negotiations" (to me) extends way beyond final price. To that end, I generally discourage staying there so that guys can be on the outside looking in. This perhaps would apply to frequent visitors instead of the once a year guys. I'm sure for guys who don't travel often the HDR gives a good impression of convenience. Nothing wrong with that either... 8)

I concur. This is why I tried to break down "negotiations" into a two-part category (for those staying at the HDR).
1) Negotiating price
2) Negotiating performances / services

Some guys are simply after the bottom dollar. In other words - as long as she has a pulse, that's all that counts. And THOSE are the guys who might see the benefit of staying at the HDR - solely based on bottom dollar $$$ negotiating. But for some of us, it's certainly not about finding the least expensive hole to plunder. It's more about the overall experience, and the performance that awaits us. Hence, we stay at other places! :wink:

It's the HDR Belly of the beast CR, they should NEVER charge a chica fee, just include it in the room cost. How cheap and chintzie. :evil:
