Looking to come down between Christmas and New Years, from Miami/Fort Laud area. I come down often and never pay more than around $300. Can't find anything less than $600. Any ideas from guys in this area? Thanks The Teacher |

Keep checking several times/day and maybe catch a price drop, or use miles. I caught a mileage drop (never knew they did that), was eyballing a flight to POP for 50k miles + 75.00 redemption fee and the other day it dropped to 42,500 + no fee... it's on next wknd. ![]() |

I have seen a definite increase recently in airfares from Chicago to SJO. All thru 2009, I could find airfares between $ 280 - 320. In late Oct/early Nov starting looking for airfares for early-mid February 2010. Airfares started off at $350.....waited and watched....went up to $ 390. Waited and watched and thankfully, found a Continental flight with great times for $ 360 and booked the first week of Dec. Just looked at airfares for the first time since I booked the ticket 2 weeks ago, same flights are now $ 420. Hope this isn't a sign of new airfare pricing for the future. |

You are looking at peak holiday period "Looking to come down between Christmas and New Years," while Cujo is quoting fares available in early February. |

OH YES!!!!! Spirit always does that, "Fares for $49, book now." OK so I go through the process, $300, after taxes, etc. PURA VIDA! |

I booked a flight r/t from Chicago to SJO at the beginning of the month for the last week in Feb. for $335 including insurance. This is about the price I usually get. I saw one for $273 the night before I booked, but I waited and it was gone the next day. I just looked and I still found a few flights left at my price for my time, but you have to try every site to find these. There are also several flights at my price if you want an overnight layover, but I can't understand why anybody would take that. The big difference to me is that A/A seems to have taken over most of the flights and the discount airlines are out. But the discount airlines weren't really any cheaper. |

I haven't tried this service yet, but the concept is interesting. You put in your itinerary/travel requirements and different travel agents try to find you the best deal. http://www.compete4yourseat.com/Public/flights.php |
