you talking about that hotel next to the national theater? forget it dude. never, ever, in a gazillion years. they make the presedente look like a`haven for particularly egregious sluts. besides, that place is an overated dump with toilets and plumbing going back to the 1930's. they should rename it "Floater Hotel" please, lucky to find asswipe there. and if it's a question like "Oh, I want to experience the 'Old' Costa Rica." then, please, again. i'd rather stay at the CardBoard Inn, Inc and take a dump up against a stump or something. and at least they have the decency to supply a fly swatter with your breakfast. |

. You got the wrong hotel amigo. The grand de Oro is in Paseo colon as he said, on Calle 30. The "Grand Hotel" is the one on Calle 3 and in front of the Theater. Everything you said about the Grand is correct. The Grand de Oro is a very elegant OLD building and is Not cheap. Have been there a couple of times and almost all of the clientel I saw appeared to be very wealthy, and older, Latinos. I would be very suprised if they allowed "female guest" in the rooms thou I do not know the oficial policy. |

oh you're correct here are some opinions by el ciego on the gran oro First of all, this property is rabid against prostitutes. You won't get past the front door with a pro chica, and attempts to bribe/cajole the staff will likely get you evicted. They're serious about this. Of course, you could still walk to many of the Paseo Colon MPs from there. By the way... if bringing a chica back to your room is not on your genda, try a stay at the Grano d"oro. This former coffee baron's mansion is furnished elegantly with period antiques. Some rooms have jacuzzis. All the first-floor rooms have little private patios for your smoking enjoyment. The service is absolutely first-class. However, as someone mentioned above, this hotel isn't chica friendly. In fact, I would call it "chica hostile." Sad But, if you're going to be spending most of your time in the P. Colon area MPs, the G. d'O. can't be beat. Fantastic hotel and restaurant. Nice wine list, too! ============================================= here is ID's opinion Gran de Oro is about a 5 to 10 minute ride, depending on traffic, to the gulch. It is Chica hostile. =============================================== ps...i would suspect many of my other comments on the first hotel would also be true of the Gran (Floater) Oro Hotel. and, in my opinion, as far as restaurants, once you get south of Miami, you're on your own |

it s the very best place to stay in SJO if you are with your wife or GF.or if you are a chaste pirest or impotent. Otherwise, look for chica friendly digs..... |
