I'm so glad I live in a city that's so concerned about the public. PHX Police apprehended a couple that stole over 1000 bags from baggage claim. I love the airport official's statement about actually checking tags too..."we're evaluating a lot of different possiblities".. gee thanks.

And if your medication is a liquid over 3 ozs, good luck in security. Can you imagine them going through a mongers suitcase as they assess the damage? A lot of, "I have no idea how that got in there? :shock: " or "I am sorry officers, this suitcase isn't mine. Let me know when you find the one with the Bibles and religious souveniers. The things people do! :roll: "

And I may be reading more into it than is there, but I do believe they consider the basis of the lies to be justified."

Should not be a problem but you must advise them at the security check point.

Medications

You may bring all prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including petroleum jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes.

Additional items you may bring include:

* Liquids including water, juice, or liquid nutrition or gels for passengers with a disability or medical condition;
* Life-support and life-sustaining liquids such as bone marrow, blood products, and transplant organs;
* Items used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or shells containing gels, saline solution, or other liquids; and,
* Gels or frozen liquids needed to cool disability or medically related items used by persons with disabilities or medical conditions.

You are not limited in the amount or volume of these items you may bring in your carry-on baggage. BUT if the medically necessary items exceed 3 ounces or are not contained in a one-quart, zip-top plastic bag, you MUST declare to one of our Security Officers at the checkpoint for further inspection.

I have more concerns in the States at baggage claims than in San Jose. I've arrived late to baggage only to find my bags at the airline desk. In the US, in most airports, I can drive up to baggage claim with an accomplice and walk in and take whatever is not claimed. Sure they have cameras, but if I am part of the, hidden community, what are the chances that they will find me

I admire you guys who can do a trip with just bringing a carry on. I literally would have to go to CR for one day to pull that off..

Well, of course, because we don't have to bring down all the props and extra lube that you have to... :P . seriously., last time I went was for 7 days and nothing but carry-on bag.., next time i plan on only wearing one pair of shoes to save room for more coffee that I buy.

I realize after I posted this that it actually has less relevance to me here because my home airport, and I assume most others, have a separate baggage claim for international arrivals before reaching customs area. ( I love nonstop flights to SJO.). but it's still a caution to domestic arrivals and still is disconcerting when you know they have let someone steal 1000 f**king bags before they caught them.. :shock:

Exactly, all you really need to bring with you is money and condoms, everything else is optional and probably unneeded. :lol: Minimizing clothing is the key, or just wash and wear the same stuff every day.

I once did a 4-day trip using only my laptop backpack. It's not some big travel pack, but a rather smallish backpack, but holds quite a bit when it's stuffed to the max--including my laptop. :D

you are right its probably unnecessary when it comes to getting laid by hookers but if you think you don't look ridiculous in the same wrinkled clothes day after day...and don't tell me you have your cargo shorts pressed daily either
as far as the luggage thing, i go for speed. it is rare i am not standing at the carousel waiting for my bag

I couldnt do a trip with just my carry on. I always try to be fairly quick when making it to get my bag, I'm usually standing by the carousel when it starts moving, and I wait at the front to not give anyone else a chance to grab my bag.

I go to HLH, I have no need to impress any hookers. :P :lol:

Also key is to bring no-care clothing. :D For travelling, I always bring my REI Sahara convertible pants, two for normal wear and and a third for hiking/walking. They're all-nylon, quick-drying, very light, provide high UV protection, and pack very small. Very easy care, no need to iron. :D The shirts I bring for CR are a mix of REI's Sausalito and Royal Robbins' Desert Pucker shirts (both are polynosic rayon-polyester blends, very soft, pack very well, and also no-iron), plus some REI Sahara Tech t-shirts. Getting the idea? I don't even own an iron, let alone know how to use one. :D

I just did 4 days in the Dominican Republic with a carry on and my computer bag. How is it so difficult? I mean, you usually wear one set of clothes down there, leaving the need for the changes of clothes, your bathroom necessities and little more. Oh, I forgot, some of you guys bring down loads of hooker gifts. :D

I can do 5 nights with just a carry-on and computer bag easy, and usually change shirts twice/day!

Isn't it Brother Cujo'S that was spotted in the tuxedo-and-white-tennis shoe outfit? Tres chic. Just funnin' Bro--don't get all jumped up.
Nice tips from Brother Hiker Tom. Myself, I find Chino's and compressible/ unwrinkle-in-the-shower silk shirts work well. OTOH I'm a master of the iron (linen demands it--got a rep to support after all). But dampen the clothes and put them between the mattress and box spring--just sleeping but for sure rollin' and tumblin' will press them out. Voila et voila! Another travel tip from yo' boy JazzboCR.
BTW, if you're wondering where this and all other unclaimed baggage winds up, or want to do some serious bargain hunting ("Why buy new when used will do?"), try this: www.unclaimedbaggage.com/faqs.html A real fun site in any case.
