Post subject:  air panama sucks
Had to fly to David, Panama last week while visiting CR.
Showed up at Juan Santamaria Aeropuerto with a lightly packed bag that would have been a carry-on on any N. American airline. But they took it and checked it, against my protests, while I was checking in at the airport. When I got to Panama my new IPOD & portable speakers, four packs of smokes and other odds and ends were gone from the non-lockable compartments of my bag.

I tried to file a report/claim in David. They told me I needed to do it in San Jose since that's where the flight originated.

When I got back to SJO, my bag had been rifled again. This time I packed mostly dirty clothes on the outside, but they still dug in and found my alarm clock. All three zipper pockets were unzipped and wide open when it came off of the baggage belt. In San Jose, they told me I should have filed my report in David, since that's where I first noticed the theft.

I filled out forms and was assured someone would call me very quickly. Three days later I flew back to the U.S. without hearing from anyone, and, of course, they aren't answering my e-mails either.

Avoid Air Panama at all costs. Oh yeah, the other part was, my ticket was more than $300 bucks. But if I were a Panamanian, it would have cost quite a bit less than $200. Guess they don't like gringos on their airplanes.

well, thats is some bad news. In africa they will even steal your dirty clothes. how are the turbo props planes?

How is the real estate scene down there in panama? Have not been to the country in three years?
