That's not bad if you don't mind sending them your contact info first. However you might want to do a search here before you turn to that:

Hard to beat vista linda apartments just 10 min north of san jose. All included, guest friendly, the newer apts are nice. Around 500$ a month. No deposit no lease. Good landing spot.

Any chance do you know if they take credit cards, more specifically American Express? I have heard good things about them and am contemplating a 3 week visit.

I'd be surprised if Vista Linda takes any kind of credit card. The owner, Carlos Rodriguez, likes to be paid with U.S. dollars. Carlos is a Venezuelan who speaks very good English. He knows whassup with us. He can be very helpful. You can call him to talk, or (better yet) send an email or a question through his reservation website.

I've stayed at Vista Linda many times in prior years. No place is perfect, but Vista Linda is a pretty good balance of factors.

Are you sure that place is in San Jose Costa Rica? Looks like they're in California to me. If so, I'd look for something closer to the Gulch.

Vista apts seem smaller less luxurious, but they are in a safe compound with gates and a night time guard and even guard tower! Ina more "suburban" for Costa Rica area, the Scotland is in a downtown dubious area with a history of thuggery and incidents...I've been to the Scotland, I like the apts. themselves, but I would take a smaller place in a quieter safer area. That's Vistalinda. Punch in the info, any info and you get a video tour, there's also an independent one from a tenant still on the web.

Before I moved here I checked both out. I did not like LV at all. Across the street from a dump...literally. Looks like you're entering a prision. Scotland has acceptable apts with a better access to cabs and stores. Look around and try something different. SJ has much to offer. What's your budget? If higher, try Sabana.

I will be moving back to CR b4 end of the year and was planning to stay at VL for a month or two, just because it's convenient, no deposit, month to month, 15 minutes from downtown, gives me time to take my time to find a nicer larger place, I lived in Sabana b4 so I like that area, so probably headed there but Escazu, Rohrmoser and maybe even San Pedro are options.

I don't mind the prison like walls of VL, that keeps trouble out, but I never heard about the dump. does it smell strong? What's your opinion of the neighborhood? I've heard neutral and bad. I still didn't care for the hood where Scotland is but my friend who lived there would call a cab and shoot out the door when it arrived, if he had one drop him off at night, he had the driver watch him get in and lock the door. What's your opinion of the Scotsman's hood? Anyone else with experience or knowledge, please feel free to chime in...thanks...

Done several months there without problems...but last visit had a potential problem. Guard saw a couple of guys following me back (I was walking, somewhat late, looking at my cell phone) as I was getting close to Scotland apts...he shone his big flashlight their direction and they disappeared. But he was convinced they were about to get me...in fact he shouted as well. I certainly appreciated his action.

But other than that it is a great area...lots of restaurants just east of it...and other than the walking route that I usually took, I think quite safe. Cabbing it would be safe generally I think. Had I been attentive that night I think I could have avoided it...I think I picked up the "followers" somewhere near the train station...and there's a 2 block or so stretch not well lighted from the street above that to close to the apartment. If I see anyone paying attention to me I usually walk down to Cinema Magaly and through it... more light and people and security.
