The defense speaks:
I'm not an attorney but as I understand the proceedings in a criminal trial the first to speak is the prosecutor who lays out the evidence against the defendant. I think that has been done. Then the defense attorney is given an opportunity to reshape the evidence into a form that is more favorable to the defense. My turn.
Such much evidence has been presented by many prosecutors I will address each in reverse order. It has been stated by the immediate preceding prosecutor that his biggest complaint is lack of peace and quiet to enjoy his morning coffee. Being one of the world's largest coffee addict I can understand that. Even at 6 a.m. the ground floor of the DelRey can be a very noisy environment. But if you step out the door and across the street to the restaurant you will find a very peaceful environment. You can even have your coffee out of the back porch.
Myself I enjoyed my morning coffee out of my balcony. About half of the rooms on the sixth floor have balconies. Where you can enjoy your coffee and watch the city wake up. By the way that coffee is delivered to my room within a few minutes of my request each morning. One of the DelRey's biggest assets is a full service 24 hour room service.
The immediate preceding prosecutor also mentioned room cleanliness. Fortunately for me have not experienced that problem. I've always found the domestic staff to be very helpful and professional. The head housekeeper ( I apologize for the life of me I cannot think of her name ) comes around early each evening to check to see that you're happy with your room.
I'm going to post this segment then add to it so as not to be signed off automatically after being on too long. It just did it to me.
The DelRey has been bashed for being the ultimate training wheel. I could be misinterpreting that has happened before. But one of its biggest pluses is being looked at as a minus. For the new guy showing up in San Jose for the first time in his life possibly even his first trip out of the United States the DelRey is a great place to stay. Here's a place you can pursue what you've come to San Jose to pursue in complete security. You literally do not even have to walk out the door. Everything you want is right there. Food, alcohol, guys to shoot the breeze with and yes ladies who are available for various activities. All of this in what is possibly the most secure building in San Jose. And as mentioned before if you don't like it move.
Totally agree with what you have said. We always have options, including leaving the hotel property for peace and quiet. However, my preference is to be able to hang at the place I am spending money to stay. Guess I just see that choice as getting my money's worth. To do otherwise is like buying a car that you never get to drive or even sit in. Having never stayed on the 6th floor, I cannot comment about the luxury or additional amenities. But a balcony was most certainly not an option on the third floor. And unfortunately being on such a low floor meant casino noise 24/7. Not a problem at the moment while the casino is shuttered between 0500 and 1500
To each his own......I just choose better accomodations and for me that is the Sportsmen's Lodge. After that it is La Amistad, Amon Plaza, Sleep Inn, and even with bad chica policy, The Presidente. Next time I am unable to get into the SL, I might give Dunn Inn or Castillo a shot. Hopefully that won't be necessary as the SL is my home away from home. I like being a member of a family, just not another guest. And no chica fees and a 10% CRT discount on the entire bill aint half bad, either.
