Does anyone know if Courtyard Marriot has a Tica policy, and if so what it might be.

Thanks.

I don't know their official policy, but I can tell you what my experience was. I stayed there last July for 4 days or so, and had my favorita with me a couple of nights. They checked her cedula once, but other than that, the staff had no concerns. However, this is not a mongering hotel and a 50 year old man with a 21 year old chica do stand out. If you try to be discrete, you should have no problems, IMO.

My last stay there was six months ago, but at that time the Marriott Courtyard was chica-friendly. Cedula check at the front desk (for security purposes), but no fees and no judgemental looks from the staff. There are a lot of gringo tour groups and business people passing through the lobby, so I would encourage you to be discreet. My amiga was dressed (relatively) consevatively, and nobody gave us a second look.

Stumbled across this thread - in my previous business trips, I've brought back a couple on variuos nights to the Courtyard, but it was always pretty late at night (ie: front door was locked, had to use keycard to get in) and the staff didn't say one word to me, no check-in for the tica either, no fees, etc. I think what's been said about being low-key is the best idea :-)

Dbros:

The Courtyard is in Escazu, which is about a $10/15-20 minute taxi ride from the Del Rey. The chica policy is still as reported, based on my May 2009 stay.
