I realize some may think this post is a ¨shill¨, but that is not going to stop me from posting my recent experience at SL that highlights why I stay here, and why I do not choose to stay elsewhere while I am in SJO.
Currently I am closing in on another wonderful 5 day journey to SJO. I had two recent experiences that I wanted to share with the board.
1. Accomodation ¨snafu¨. When I arrived on the Frontier redeye, Manfred informed me that the room I was reserved for in the Mansion Wing had a guest changing rooms in the morning, and then they would clean it and get me in before 10AM. Always a plus wen you come in on a redeye flight and want to hit the ground running on day 1. As I sat in th courtyard, I overheard that there might be a problem and that the guest was told that he could stay another night in the same room. Not sure how it happened, but this is a busy hotel and some situations like this are bound to occur from time to time. So immediately, I was concerned that the reservation that I had made 5 to 6 months ago, and confirmed a week before arrival, was in jeopardy and I was going to have to seek out oth options, as the hotel was VERY full. Manfred worked this delicate situation like a real professional and ensured me my past patronage was valued and they would do what they could to make it right. They workd things around to find me another room in the Mansion wing that did not require me to change rooms, and offered it to me at the same price I had been guaranteed for a less costly room. I stayed in Toro Negro and it was a fatastic room, in the very rear of the building. I realize that many hotels would do the same for a valued guest, but was treated like family thru the whole ordeal. I appreciated this so much that I mentioned to Bill how well this reflected on the professional staff he has surrounded himself with at the SL and that was one of the big reasons I return here, time after time! Bill....If you read this, Thanks again for stepping up to the plate and standing behind your values of guest satisfaction!
2. On night 3, I had what could have been considered a medical situation that was nothing more than an overidulgence in alcohol and some herbal refreshment. I got up from the bed to go to the bathroom, when I became very dizzy. Knowing I was not going to make it, I did a 180 and headed back toward the bed. Before I could get there, I fainted and hit my head on the footboard of the bed. Knocked me out for probably a few minutes. Needless to say, my ¨guest¨was totally freaked out on this situation not knowing what had transpired. I will go into this more in a different post. Anyways, rather than run for the hills, she ran downstairs to the Mansion wing bar and got Melissa to come up to the room. By the time she arrived, I was already sitting up on the edge of the bed, dazed and confused, but otherwise OK. Over the course of the next hour, I think every bartender in the main bar came up to my room to make sure I was OK and to see if I needed anything. This was not done as a gesture to avoid any kind of liability, but out of genuine care for me and and my health. I cannot tell you how much that attention and caring immediately after the event, and the days that followed meant to me. Mere words are totally inadequate for me to convey my sincere appreciation for their friendship and support.
These are just two recent examples, I wanted to share, that support why I and many others have chosen to make the SL our hotel of choice while we are in SJO. You are not just a guest.......You are a member of the family. My thanks to Bill and the entire SL staff for providing us with a First Rate place to hang our hats. I will remember this trip for a very long time, and I think many of the SL staff will, as well.
