 Post subject: Noise at Amistad?
PostPosted: Thu Jun 18, 2009 12:19 pm
I read a recent post where a patron at La Amistad complained of loud train noises. During my last visit, I was hearing about commuter train service that would be operating on the tracks there next to the hotel. I am assuming it has started. Is there a problem with noise there now?

Yes, a two-car passenger train goes back and forth seemingly every five minutes all day long. Well, probably not, but that must be the new commuter train. There is also a work train powered by a diesel switcher that all passes by frequently. The noise is worst in the four-room section of the hotel that lies right by the tracks. These are rooms 212 (a studio apartment), 213, 214 (The one I was in on my recent trip) and 215. You don't just hear the trains, you feel them as well.

the trains aren't really an issue because they don't pass by at night (the ones I saw transported steel and some workers, so presumably work oriented) and my last room (307) faces out towards the tracks. Not an issue for me at all, since I didn't see that many (even when I was in the room during the day) and never at a bad hour.

To be honest, the noise from being in the rooms beside the stairwell is worse, because it's frequent and at all hours. I wouldn't worry about it.

might be a good place to write a song about trains, pickup trucks and little darlings!
