I just wanted to give a quick review about my week at the Freebird. As usual my stay was great, I stayed in suite 1 and it is top notch. It's hard to ask for a nicer room for the price in downtown. I've stayed at several of the hotels in the Gulch and this one wins hands down. Dennis is a great host, anything you need, he'll go out of his way to try to get it for you. And the hotel is very secure, Dennis was busy putting up new securty cameras when we got there. If you like a laid back hotel , then you might want to give the FreeBird a try.

On a side note, I'm glad my wing man and I stayed at the FreeBird because we didn't spend all our time with the other guys in our group. The other guys all got food poisoning. They were staying at the Castillo and they seem to think they may have gotten sick when they drank the water at Cafe Mundo, they also drank the water at Tin Jo. That's why I stick with bottled water.

not to hijack the topic, yes, the freebird is great

but, out of curiousity, what did all the dudes that got sick do for treatment?

did they take any medicine, how did they overcome the food poisoning symptoms?

did anyone buy any DIACORT medicine from the pharmacy, like you're supposed to do your first day?

When were you in town? I was at the Castillo this past week and also ate and drank water at Cafe Mundo. Maybe it was something to do with Tin Jo. I've always drank the water in San Jose with no ill effects...so far.

We were down between the 4th and the 10th. My wingman also ate at Cafe Mundo with no ill effects, so I don't know where the other guys caught it. My friends just let it run it's couse , they were out of action for a couple of days. Thank's for the tip on Diacort, is that an antibiotic? I just take Imodium-AD and Cipro with me. I have been sick down there before, a few days of CIPRO knocks it out pretty quick. I haven't been sick in a couple of years since I started following my doctors orders about what to eat and not eat there.

3 of us got sick after eating the Tuna at Cafe Mundo in Feburary.

The 7 other wingmen had the steak and were ok.

I was drinking Vodka and Soda. No water. Of course the ice could of been bad, but only the Tuna eaters got sick.

Taking an Emerency dump in the HDR restroom is an experience I hope not to repeat.

yes, the DIACORT has a small amount of anibiotic.

that stuff is the bomb.

In Colombia you can buy a similar product called HIDROSIN.

these products have small amounts of antibiotics and are, in my opinion, a lot, lot better than the over the counter stuff we can buy here.

i'm just saying, make plans to counter attack food/water illness with one of the above or similar products.

of course, if you have a severe case, go to a clinic since you're basically screwed anyway for the next few days.

for less severs cases, I swear by these products.

you're possibly down for only a couple of hours instead of a day or more.

if you got a bottle of that shit handy when you start to feel sick, and take a few swigs and rest a bit, you'll feel like you're the smartest mofo in the world if you recover quickly.
