Would La Uruca be too far from the gulch to be worthwhile? https://forum.costaricaticas.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=28553 |

I have a time share and I need to use one week before the end of the year, I'm pretty much maxed to the tits with my budgeting for my upcoming 2 trips to Medellin (1 week soon and 4 weeks in September) I'll have enough Aeroplan miles to get a flight to SJO for just the taxes (approx $173 Cdn) and I can get a room at Taranova-Villas Palmas 200 Metros Este San Jose La Uruca, Costa Rica I've never heard of the place, but I get a week for about $200 Cdn and it'll be a 3 bedroom suite with full kitchen so the price sounds right. I tried to map and use one of the landmarks I know (Parque Morazon) and the distance between the 2 is 2.7 Km (as the bird flies) but looking at the maps up close it looks like there's not many direct routes to the gulch and with all the one ways, I was hoping that someone familiar with the area could advise as to whether I'm going to find it a real hassle taking taxis back and forth. On my maiden trip last Sept I made the horrible mistake of staying at the Marriott so all my mongering was done at HLH or short term motels. If this place is still too inconvenient, I may reconsider or again divide up all my time between Relax, HLH and NF. If by chance, anyone has stayed at Taranova-Villas Palmas and can speak to whether they got grief bringing girls back, please let me know. I've tried to RTFF but most searches on Uruca bring back the water park info, which I would be checking out! If I like this place, and it's girl friendly, it could be free accomodations for some vets if they're there when I am. Assuming they don't shake the walls with their snoring. ![]() |

It really is not convenient to the GULCH...you will need to taxi there Im thinking about 3000 colones one way or maybe the Heredia bus..(NOT por Tibas...the other one that goes passed the Mall) |

Thanks PR, I'm OK with taking a taxi, and 3000 I'm OK with too, I was giving drivers 2000 to shuttle me from HDR to HLH at night. And I always make the return trip with said chica so taxi drivers don't get blown. My concern is mainly time, if it's taking me 15 minutes each way, that'll seriously cut into the time in my room. If it's 5 mins, then meh, any lost minutes will be compensated by cold bevy's in my fridge I'm hoping someone knows about the chica accessibility as well |

More than 15 minutes to it's final stop which is still a 5 minute cab ride to the HDR. |

La Uruca is not that far by taxi, it's more or less a straight shot. From the HDR, just take Avenida 1 to Calle 3, go north to the point where the freeway starts and turn left (it's a goofy intersection), follow that til it T's and turn right, then follow that into Uruca. It's a little more difficult going to the HDR from Uruca, but the cab drivers will know the way. It shouldn't be more than 3000. and most of the way is pretty fast road, so traffic, except at rush hour, shouldn't be bad. I make it in 10 minutes at night, probably 15 during the day. |

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the quick feedback. I think I'm going to give it a shot, if it's a no-go from bringing chicas back or I find the drive too long from HDR or SL to make it worthwhile, I subsist on a MP diet Price is just too good for me not to try Thanks again. |

It only cuts into time signficantly on the hour clock. If you choose to negotiate time rather then money, and tell her you will give her an extra ten bucks for the commute. Be honest about the length of the ride. In truth, the distance will eliminate clock watching sharks, to some degree. Those who want to throw and go will decline-use it to your advantage. |
