How do I insure my golf clubs?

Ok, I know I could call American Airlines and find this out but it seems I have some specific questions and wanted to know if anyone had intel before some dipshit named "Biff" gave me some bullshit answer.

So my next stay will be for 2 weeks and for the first time I want to bring my own clubs since the course charges $50 a round for rentals.

My question is: If I insure my clubs for $2100 (however much that will be) who takes the inventory?

For example if I come down with 14 clubs and notice 2 missing, who vouches for that?

Any experience or help is appreciated

I am sure you can insure them for a certain amount and they would have to take your word if some were missing, no different than things in a suit case.I am just guessing here. I fell sure Pac would know with his air line history.

Crackerass, I worked for the FAA, not the airlines ya cracker. Controllers really don't give a phuck what or who is on the airplane. Just get it up and get it down....sounds familiar for some reason.

Actually there is a huge difference. Very few people insure baggage and then only if they have something of value in their luggage which they declare when they buy insurance. If they do not buy insurance the airline pays based on either weight or limit of liability, depending on if the travel is international or domestic, no matter what the content of the bag. If they bag weighed 10 kilos they do not differentiate if that 10k was gold bullion or dirty clothes.

As far as accepting your word that 2 clubs are missing I seriously doubt that would happen. Insurance adjusters are notorious for not accepting anything. I would expect if you insure a set of golf clubs for XX dollars an inventory of some sort would be prepared and signed off on by both parties.

I only take one club to CR. IT is 6 and 7 eights inches long (when erect). It is uninsured, yet priceless, when used as nature intended.

I meant a situation like; all my clubs are there except my $430 driver. Back in the day drivers used to come up missing all the time. Not in CR per say but abroad.

Why not get one of those shipping cases for clubs and throw a TSA lock on it? I have never traveled with mine but I have seen those all the time.

When you fill out the insurance form, describing the item(s) you're insuring, just write on the form: 14 golf clubs, valued at $2,100, including a "Big Bertha # 1 Driver" with a value of $430. (or something to that extent). I'd be as specific as possible when itemizing your insured items. This way, if something came up missing, you've covered your ass. It's worth an extra couple of minutes when filling out the insurance form. Since lots of guys travel with their expensive sticks, I'm sure that the insurers are used to this.

A hard shell travel case with a TSA lock is the best way to go. I also snap a quick pic of my clubs before checking in to prove what is going into baggage. My â€œtravel insuranceâ€ is whatever is covered by using Visa for the ticket purchase.

I travel with my clubs quite a bit (lefty) and only have had a couple of sleeves of balls taken by an AA baggage person (I think?) a few years ago, before the investment for a hard shell. With the fees paid for luggage now, a golf bag still is only counted as just a regular bagâ€¦ you would be amazed at how extra clothing can go into a golf bag :shock:
