I wouldn't normally recommend this hotel, but you can get a room for $57.50 right now at the Crown Plaza Corobici (formery a Sol Melia hotel the Tryp Corobici). If you have one special novia or don't bring girls back to your room, this is a very good deal. The plusses: The remodel was recently completed. Good price. The $57.50 includes tax (you'll actually use points) Has a pool. You reportedly have access to the free hotel shuttle The negatives: Not centrally located, it's on the edge of downtown next to Sabana Park. They have a good buffet breakfast but reportedly it's not available with this promotion. REPORTEDLY THERE IS A $50 CHICA FEE! See this thread for a more detailed discussion: http://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27993&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=fdc73670c68d4fa16247ff434aca9c98 To get this rate (rooms are usually over $100 a night) you'll need to use priority club points. You can purchase points for $11.50 per 1,000 points. It would normally take 20,000 points to redeem at this hotel, but right now this hotel is a "pointbreak" hotel and you'll only need 5,000 per night. This deal is available for bookings until the end of August. |

Yep, I just checked out the crown site. And that's what it looks like less than $60 a night if you use point. They are also having a promotion stay 2 nights get 1 free. So you could stay at some lower end hotels and average out your nights to like 50-60 a night. |

Someone told me that the Corobici Hotel was once a Playboy Hotel or had a Playboy Club in the hotel. He wasn't sure which it was. I looked it up on-line and there did not appear to be any history of it being a Playboy Hotel or Club. Does anyone have any independent knowledge of this? |

It's true the corrobici used to be a playboy club. I use to stay there in the early eightys. Not sure if it was a playboy hotel or not. Use to be a hell of a place to spend a week. But like many other good things in Costa Rica it is a thing of the past. |

Does anyone have any independent knowledge of this? It was a pseudo Playboy Hotel. It was named that but like so many things in CR it was pirated. It was not recognized or franchised by Hugh and his crew. |

I had 20,000 points so that's why I'm staying 4 nights at the place. I was going to book the Presidente, but last minute checked Priority club and very suprised at the 5000 points per night. -didn't know a reward night could be that low. I'll just pay the $50 chica fee and enjoy staying at the hotel. It's supposed to have a pretty good fitness center, (if I have enough energy left to actually use it ![]() I called and confirmed the $50 chica fee. They also have a free shuttle to and from the airport. Just call the hotel before you fly and they'll pick you up at the airport. |

"I called and confirmed the $50 chica fee. " The plus is this hotel is within very close walking distance of the Paseo Colon MPs. That is a great price. Thanks for telling us! |

This may fall under the category of if you have to ask you can't afford it. Where can I buy points for the Crowne Plaza. This sounds like a great deal. OldQDOg |

This shows that even the top-line venues are having trouble keeping up occupancy rates. I'd wager that even those that cater to a European audience (Barcelo Palacio, for example) will show some flexibility, even if it's not outright advertised. Great time to be a customer...if you can afford to be a customer (aye, there's the rub.) |

This isn't my reward program, but I just signed up for it and gonna start buying the points. I might use it with the Delta program and come back again next month. |
