Does anybody have any intel on this place?

This would be perfect for a couple of guys if it was chica friendly. It is located atop the Crown Plaza Corobici Hotel, but not owned by the hotel.

That penthouse has been for sale off and on for several years. I'm not surprised that someone is offering it for rent.

As the Trip Coribisi, the hotel was not, i repeat not chica-friendly. I doubt if this policy has changed since Holiday Inn/Crowne Plaza bought the place. The hotel's market seems to be the well-heeled businessperson on an expense account. It's far enough from the Gulch to be inconvenient, and despite its elegant reputation, the architecture of the place is more high-school gym than elegant....but this may have changed.

For the money I expect they would charge, I believe there are better options.

Hotel M. is very nice. SL's Mansion Wing is killer. The new penthouse rooms at the Amistad are fantastic... there are a lot of options. OTOH, if I ever win the lottery, that property might well become the Penthouse Ciego Coribisi.

EC...Thanks for your response. I found some additional info on the Penthouse here: http://www.thepenthousecostarica.com/

According to this website "On the tenth floor you will find one of the two entrances to The Penthouse, enter through the door and into a 2-story hand painted mural of Costa Rica’s landscape. The second entrance is an elevator which can be accessed from your parking space in the secured parking garage or any floor in the hotel."

If one were to enter through the parking garage, I don't think it would be a problem bringing up guests. As for the money they are charging, they are offering special of 5 nights for $1000. The Penthouse at the Sportsmen costs $250 per night. Sounds like a deal to me. 8)

And there is also a dance stage with stripper pole. Seems to me like they expect you to bring entertainment there.

I almost booked this room for my upcoming trip in May. When you apply on the rentalo service, they do send your name out to mutiple folks that may or may not meet your criteria. But they do also send it to the people who own the Penthouse. The part owner of the Penthouse Carl Stratton is the same person who is renting out the property. He owns the penthouse along with 2 other guys. His direct number is 813 310-7402.

Here is the info I was able to get thru my emails and phone calls with the guy:

1. He was willing to let me have the room for $200 a night for 4 nights even though the special says $200 a night only applies for 5 nights, so he would probably be willing to work with most who have shorter stays. The price is flat with no tax added on so it seems like a very good deal. The only drawback is he does require a $400 deposit that will be refunded after your stay and after they check to make sure no damage has occurred to his property. You send the $400 to him in Miami where he lives and give the balance to his representative in Costa Rica a lady by the name of Roxeanne (she may or may not also be the maid)

2. You can request a parking spot in the garage to have access to the garage elevator but he said it was a big hassle for shorter stays and more trouble that it would be worth.

3. You have equal access to hotel extras like the pool etc.

4. He does have a maid that comes buy once a day to clean. She will stock food for you and even cook but you have to work that out with her.

5. As far as chica's go "Carl says" you are outside the hotels policies as you are not one of their guest. You are considered a tenant. He says the hotel has no control over who comes and goes from the penthouse, and it has been used quite regularly as a playboy pad.

6. This is further proven that you are a tenant and not a hotel guest because you do not have access to their free airport shuttle service that is reserved for hotel guests.

I decided to keep my reservation at the Penthouse in SL as this is my first trip to costa rica, and I dont want to take any chances. Too many good things have been said about the SL to not use it for my friends and I first trip.

I am however going to try to get a look at this fine pad while I am there just to see how convenient it truly is. Hope this helps all the brothers looking for different places to stay while in costa rica. If you do ever get to stay there shoot me a pm and give me the actual hands on info.

After doing a little bit of research, I can only find two negatives about the Penthouse. First, it doesn't have A/C. Kinda hard to believe someone would build a facility such as this, and omit air conditioning. Secondly, you would need to take a cab just about everywhere as it is close to nothing that our hobby is interested in.

Thanks Jakkly, I talked to a friend of mine who has a condo on the 7 floor and he knows the owner well and will call him if I decide . About air I find that hard to believe as I have been to his condo many times and it has air. Also Hugh Hefner used it as his residence when in CR. Not that far from the glutch but the cabs out front will double the price.I will be down MAY 6-11 Send pm if you want to meet for a drink.
