Post subject:  Delta/NWA Miles - 3X Elite, 2X for penny, 25% award discount

Up to 3X Elite miles on Delta/NWA/KLM plus double your existing redeemable miles for 1 cent per mile and up to 25% less miles for award travel.

First the up to 3X Elite miles:

Quote:
Earn up to Triple Miles toward Elite qualification status
Now you can earn up to triple Elite qualification miles for every Northwest and Delta flight you purchase and fly between March 23 and June 15, 2009. KLM trans-Atlantic and India flights will also be eligible for this offer. See below for full terms and conditions.

You will need to register prior to travel to be eligible for this promotion.

Then start racking up the miles toward Elite status, which enables you to enjoy exclusive perks like complimentary upgrades, priority boarding, mileage bonuses, preferred seating and WorldClubs® discounts.

Here's how it works: Members purchasing premium fares will earn triple flown miles toward Elite status, members purchasing discounted economy fares will earn double flown miles toward Elite status, and members purchasing deeply discounted fares will earn the actual flown miles toward Elite status for all flights purchased and flown between March 23 and June 15, 2009. See Terms and Conditions below for more detail.

You may transfer miles into the accounts of up to four recipients in this transaction. Refer to Terms and Conditions or Frequently Asked Questions for complete details.

Transfer Miles transactions are non-refundable

The miles will be posted to the recipient's WorldPerks account within 24 hours.

A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address we have associated with your account.

Second, here's how you can double your existing miles:

When you purchase miles (up to 50K a year) from NWA/Delta it costs 2.7 cents a mile. But right now you can transfer miles from your account to a relative's account or a friend for only 1 cent a mile and they will give you a 100% bonus in miles, effectively doubling your miles for a penny a mile (plus a $25 fee per transaction so convert as much as possible in one transaction). Then your relative/friend would need to purchase your award ticket in your name.

details of the transfer miles promotion:

Quote:
Minimum/Maximum mileage per transaction, per recipient: 5,000 / 30,000
Mileage increments: 1,000
Rate per mile: $0.01
Processing fee per transaction: $25.00
One to four WorldPerks recipients may be included in a single transaction
Yearly Maximums:

Maximum mileage deposited to a WorldPerks account per year: 30,000

Of course you have to decide how to use these deals. Is the 3X elite mile promotion more important to your frequent flyer strategy at this time of year or do you have existing miles that you can double inexpensively to take advantage of discounted award travel availability. In either case you should consider your overall opportunity costs. This thread is too long already, to see my discussion on opportunity cost go here:
