For a nice alternative to the typical downtown hotels one might try
http://www.costaricatennisclub.com/

It's located only 8 or 10 minutes from the DR accross from Sabana Park and hosts a lot of activities not generally seen in the smaller boutique venues.

Especially if you like Tennis, a complete gym and swimming pool.

Great time of year for utilizing the out of doors exercising options here

Its 65-75 a night BUT the rooms are damp carpet and smell of mold. Aside from mold and dingy looking room, the sheets are clean and service good. WIFI in rooms doesnt work....BUT the pool is awesome and there is an excellent fitness center and good food and bar.
But the room is MUSTY to say the least. Very 70s feel to the whole thing in fact I think the whole thing was built in the 70s

Yup. I took a tour back in July and rooms not nice looking at all and now I understand bed bugs. Is too bad because the location and staff are nice but room quality overrides all.

There are so many hotels closer and easier to go to HDR from.... how about the Inka Inn, The Dunn Inn, Clarion, Presidente, Balmoral, Posada Amon, Morazon, etc.

Livincr presented the Tennis Club as an alternative to staying downtown which obviously meant it would be further away from the gulch.

Additionally the hotels you list have been the subject of many threads over the years while th CRTC was rarely ever mentioned.

Costa Rica Tennis Club sounds like an interesting place . . . to stay away from.

Irish Drifter : Please take a look at the thread on the Crowne Plaza Corobici Hotel - listed under Hotels, Resorts, Accomdations & Transportation.

If anyone knows the answer, my guess is that it would be the ID.

In spite of introducing orange color into my name  which is considered heresy in The Republic of Ireland, at least you did Irish in green, so I did post an answer to your question.

Plus which the denizens of Northern Ireland (the Orange part) were drifters or were drafted from Protestant Scotland...This one is a real reach, I know, even for me... Apologies. Brother.
