He was traveling domestically and it wasn't even over the $10K for disclosure. Watch and heed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMB6L487LHM |

For an organization in charge of our security and safety TSA has some of the most ignorant, worthless, losers I've ever encountered. ![]() |

![]() No, you pretty much nailed it at first... it's typical gov't employees... I once had one akz me why I carried around 2 computers, and I overheard him say to a friend, "man, I never had so much cash as this guy" it was about $300... |

Interesting video. ![]() I don't understand why they'd have the right to interrogate him, simply because of the cash. I always thought that 10K was the magic number, and you weren't allowed to carry $10K or more. He had less than 5K on him, so why would that raise any red flags? It's not illegal to travel with 5K cash! Hell, I'm sure a lot of travelers carry that kind of cash on them, especially if they're international travelers who are leaving the country for a couple weeks or more. And furthermore, this guy looked like Richie Cunningham's twin brother! I guess if you give a guy (TSA Agent) $12 per hour and a plastic gold badge, he feels empowered! ![]() |

Yeah, um, ok.... regardless, it's FAAR too much for what they do, and FAAR to little for what they're SUPPOSED to do. |

In Dallas i had a storm trooper (TSA) yell and scream and cuss at me and even Goddamn me and accuse me of being a smuggler. I now go thru Houston because they are more professional although they did feel inside my mouth to see if i was smuggling cigars! lol Just do not argue with them. |

Best advice!!! These guys are thugs with a badge, and it's their fun to make your life miserable... it's: "yessir" "nosir" "three bags full sir" "woof" Hop on one foot "yes sir, can I have another?" "you're my daddy" and anything else they want to hear... |

![]() I always thought that 10K was the magic number, and you weren't allowed to carry $10K or more. The 10K limit is only applicable when traveling internationally. Even then there in no limit on the amount you can carry. The 10K figure is the threshold requiring you to declare the amount of cash, bonds, negotiable securities, etc. you are carrying. |

I gotcha. But that being the case - it just makes this whole situation even worse. If I recall, he was traveling from St. Louis to Virginia or Maryland ? Are the limit(s) of cash that you're allowed to carry and/or supposed to declare different for domestic flights? |

That was crazy. As a Canadian, I've never felt uncomfortable going through ATL, Charlotte, DTW or MIA, & I usually have at least 2k cash on me. Although I'd probably be inclined to answer their questions, I wouldn't be impressed with this; they clearly felt he had something to hide, just because he wouldn't answer. But again, the guy looks like he craps apple pie...the whole thing doesn't make much sense to me. |

Yes he refused to answer their questions and they refused to answer his when he repeatedly asked was he required by law to answer their questions. This is just one of the many symptoms of the change that has effected the rights of U. S. citizens since 911. Slowly and surely our rights are being eroded by the catch all justification of the war on terror. |

I am not an attorney, and do not pretend to be one ![]() ![]() As far as I know there is absolutely no regulation or law that either prohibits you from carrying any amount of cash, bonds, negotiable instruments, etc. and there is no law or regulation that requires you to declare how much unless you are leaving the country. |
