really did not know where post this but anyway, if you have a 4 wheel drive tranny stuck in 4 wheel Low instead of releasing to 2 Wheel drive, here is one way to get it out of Low. My POS Ford Ranger was stuck in 4 WD Low after using it to help pull a tractor out of a canal and would not return to 2 WD after turning the selection knob. So, after searching the internet for solutions, i decided to disconnect the battery and disconnect the connection wires to the 4wd Hub. Then after isolating the 4 WD Hub from all power sources, I reconnected the battery, reconnected the 4 WD Hub and then started the engine. Sure enough, the sensor showed the tranny still in 4 WD Low, but when I shifted the coloumn lever into Neutral, and then turned the selection knob to 2 WD, the phucking Hub clicked and shifted out of 4 WD Low. all I can think of is that the electronic brains of the truck somehow got scrambled and had to be shut off and allowed to reset, sort of like a cold boot with a computer. |

Don't know if it is applicable with your rig but 4x4s can get "bound up" with stored torque after doing a heavy job. In order to clear the torque tension, get the rig in a soft environment (gravel/grass/mud) and break the tires loose (spin 'em a little). Now it should shift normally. |

I have to put my truck in reverse and bump it a little to disengage the 4 wheel low and to go back to 2 wheel high, also soft serface helps it go back into 2 wheel high just like Pac said |

Thank you NH this is also a common problem with american model units and has potentially expensive solution. and, even then, it may only provide a temporary fix. if you unhook her credit connection and replace it with a cold cash line, she may respond. my uncle jeb had limited supplies of cold cash lines and used the old, shade tree monger trick of unhooking his gringa's credit line and then getting out a five gallon bucket of vasoline and proceeding to lube up his gringa's rear indifferential. |
