My crew and I are gonna be doing up the SL and Amistad suites with jacuzzis, and were wondering whats a good method of cleaning/sterilizing them as much as possible before use? |

Well, use lots of chlorine, because, staph infection from a dirty hot tub is called hot tub folliculitis. You'd think you caught VD afterwards if you didn't know better. |

Brother QBF is right on with using chlorine (this from a professional janitor). Make absolutely sure you rinse thoroughly afterward--even a little bit of ammonia mixed with chlorine bleach releases chlorine gas which can destroy your throat and lungs, if it doesn't kill you. www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A795611 |

Yes. For most sizes of jacuzzis, 1/4 cup of chlorine bleach and a little low-sudsing dish detergent in hot water, allowed to circulate for 20 minutes in the tub, followed by a cold-water rinse cycle of 20 minutes will sanitize most areas where water circulates and at the same time, sanitizes the surface where your butt will be. The rinse is necessary to prevent skin irritation when the tub is refilled for use. (The above information is from the maintenance instructions I received with my own jacuzzi here at home). |
