I was going to buy the SD card from the local place in Costa Rica that is licensed with Garmin. How do you enter addresses in the GPS since a lot of locations don't have numbers. i.e Green House on Ave 3 between C 11 and C13. I would imagine one of you guys have it. Is the points of interests pretty comprehensive so I can do searches like Hotel Cocal in Jaco. I'm still planning on moving down in a few weeks and wondering on the value of it. |

Addresses, forget it... POI are pretty good...as long as you're in SJO, Arenal, Jaco, and Guanacaste If you're going to buy there's two companies that make maps for CR, one sucks, and one doesn't... I don't remember both names off the top of my head, but the one with the EZ in it's name is the better one, by far... |

I was in CR in Jan. Before leaving the states I bought Garmin Nuvi 260. I contacted Garmin and they have independent programmers that provide local maps for various countries. The map of Costa Rica cost $125US. They send you a link and you download it to your compute and then transfer it to your GPS. You're right there are no street numbers to speak of but as long as you know where you want to go i.e. hotel name, attraction, City then it works very well. I traveled from the pretty extensively and found it helpful on several occasions. The email address for the CR map is sergio@rsgps.net Hope this helps. |
