I was thinking of bringing in some packaged food like cereal, breakfast bars and other packaged stuff. No meats, fruits, veggies, etc. Just enough for myself. Is this allowed. If not, if I don't declare it and only have 1 bag and 1 carry on, do they ever check. I can't remember any checks.

I know I can buy a lot stuff in Jaco, but these are part of my diet.

Also, what is the going rate for a driver from SJO airport to Jaco for 2. Traveling this Thur afternoon. I have a few numbers to call, but seems like $80-$100 is a lot for one way, although I have paid it before.

Interbus isn't an option this time. I've done that before also.

I'm in Jaco 2/26-3/5, then SJO 3/6 to 3/10. Hope to see old faces and new ones.

About the Transpo issue--We have 2 transpo outfits as CRT Sponsors;
www.dosgringoscr.com and El Gallo Tours & Transportation reachable at palmaelgallo@racsa.co.cr or (506) 8846-6868

Both these offer discounts to paid-up CRT VIPs--another reason to join this Happy Crowd

JazzboCR: Thanks for the reminder, you're right! (Btw, you might want to edit the typo in the website for Dos Gringos). I'll contact them both tomorrow.

I was a VIP for years, but let it lapse lately, since I stopped going to CR for a couple years (I've been meeting CRT guys in lots of other parts of the world). :P

Just signed up again a minute ago, but my change in status might take a while to show up.

I was hoping to pay less than $80 to Jaco. Possible?

Dboy--Thanks for the heads-up on my typo w/o busting my stones. Usually I click-through to check--stepped on my unit this time.
Check in the "Dependable Drivers" section--especially if a driver has somebody else returning, you might catch a deal. By the way, www.searchcostarica.com sells Interbus airport transfers at a discount--might try them (that find was made by Brother Steven1). And not-exactly-worst-case-scenario, there's always the public bus--plenty of references here about that. For a 2+ hour trip, how bad can it be?

For what it's worth. I had an apple in my backpack last trip and they searched my two suitcases, backpack, etc....big deal...no fruta senor... The inspector smiled when he saw the dildo, vibrators, lube, condoms, valentine candy, 27 pair of panties, etc.

Dboy,
Send a PM to fellow member HolaB. He's brought all kinds of food into the country, plus spices, utensils, Omaha steaks, frozen pizza, cookie dough, etc. I think he can give you some good info. Plus, that's one guy that knows his way around the kitchen.

The chica's tell me that he's hung like a field mouse, and he's pretty lame en la cama :P, but that guy definitely knows how to cook !!!! :P  :P

HolaB sounds like good wingman material. Top chow in a culinary skill starved nation and no worry about him sneaking up on you from behind.

I once brought in some of my special homemade cheese crepes for my family in CR. It was in a tupperware container and it came up on the x-ray. The customs guy who watches the X-ray monitor put a sticker on one of my suitcases to be searched. They asked me if I had alimentos (food) and when I noticed that he put the sticker on the wrong suitcase, I said "NO". Obviously, they didn't find any food since it was in the other suitcase. Dumbasses.

So I don't think it will be a problem to bring in packaged foods like cereal and granola bars, but cooked (perishables) are not permitted.

At the El Salvador airport, they sell Pollo Campanero(sp?) fried chicken and half the Salvadorians brought in onboard. Yummy! :D

Thanks guys. Actually I got a PM from HolaB this morning. Yes, he brought in a enough food for a huge feast. :!: So, sounds like I should have no problem bringing my few packages. If I do get challenged, none of it is expensive.

My other issue, can I get a driver for 2 to Jaco for $80 or less. I don't need The Best Guide in CR, no cooler full of beer, nor perfect English; I've made this trip a dozen times. I just need transport, but again, the bus isn't an option. I'm ready to start calling some of the recommended drivers in the Driver thread.

Wait a minute! Now, since there were so many "mad" emoticons in this post, I've got to add my rebuttal -

There was no cookie dough at the party, as HolaB is a professional and he made everything from scratch. :!:

I don't know what type of steaks they were, but the steaks that he brought in looked like great cuts of meat. :!:

I only used the 8" Henkel to try to get a couple of "un-cooperative" cookies off the tray. :!:

I was accused of stealing Matt's toast from the toaster at La Amistad, but I know that I had already dropped a couple slices into the toaster, prior to the "alleged" theft! I think someone stole MY toast !!!

And I have NEVER cock-blocked anyone! 8) I was somewhat polluted that night after drinking several 2-for-1's at the bar earlier that night, then continued with more of CiaoCiao's tasty (but very potent) foo-foos. But when I saw 3 cuties standing alone at the bar, just waiting for someone to "court" them, I put on my best game face, and went in for the kill! It was almost sad, as nobody was paying any attention to them. So I did what any concerned monger would do - and I pulled the trigger.

But if it makes you feel better, I don't remember much about the session with her after the party, except for the fact that - in my inebriated state of mind, I went down on her, not even realizing that I still had chewing gum in my mouth. Within about 10 minutes, she started saying "Miguelito, Miguelito... chiclet, chiclet". And that's when I realized that I had forgotten to take the gum out of my mouth. There was gum stuck to her on both sides of her coochie, and gum stuck in my mustache! Naturally I helped her remove the gum from her coochie! I still laugh every time I think about it!

Sorry fellas, but remember this - don't ever eat pu$$y while chewing gum!!! :P

The other rumor is the "old man" removed his dentures and "gummed" her into her 2nd orgasmo
