A friend just told me about a new (not totally finished) hotel in Arenal. It is quite upscale but he says they are running some $99/night specials while the construction is going on The website looks amazing.

Wow, they spent the money on the web site. The place looks great. If you go, write a review, please. Rates are going to be on par with Kiora siutes and more then Tabacon and looks much nicer? But it is only a web site they can be tricky.

VB How did your friend get the 99.00 rate? On the web site the rates are super high.

Thanx

If you know VB, you'd know that there's not much chance of him ever going to Arenal at all, let alone to that place. But thanks at least to VB for the heads up.

NO, unfortunately I dont know the quirks of any/most of the guys here yet. As the tag says I am a "Newbie". But, that is to this site only. I like to take the stance that "even a blind squire will find a nut once in a while" and I think I have found that here.

I also Thank him for the heads up. I will end up back there in that area again some day soon.

The place looks amazing, but outa my price range.

Went to the offical hotel website > http://www.thespringscostarica.com/

and found a decnet deal on the hot spring...

"We are offering a Special Introductory Price of $40 for a Two Day Pass to the Hot Springs and Pools, four Restaurants and five bars. You may arrive anytime after 8:00 AM in the morning and stay until we close at around 10:00 PM. Of course, with the Two Day Pass you can go back and forth to the property as much as you like during the two days."

No offense meant towards you GSS. BTW, I prefer to take the stance "a wink is as good as a nod to a blind bat", you know what I mean? :P

Re: prices
Wow! I thought the Si Como No and the Parador in Manuel Antonio were expensive, but this place 'tops' them. Don't they realize there is a worldwide recession now? I wonder what their occupancy rate has been recently, or will be in the coming months?

Yeah, $400 a night is steep. Hell, you can get a top end room in vegas for less than that these days.

I notice a "sister" property is Peace Lodge/ La Paz Waterfall Gardens. I gotta believe they are marketing to those folks who last year spent $1000-1500 a night in a Caribbean or SA resort and are now downsizing their vacation expenses. Doubt we'll see any of Our Crowd there.

Yeah, maybe some of the execs from the banks and Wall Street firms who received some of the Treasury bailout funds vacation there
