Does anyone know if there are windows in the cheapest rooms @ Hotel Santo Tomas. I hate getting to a hotel and having it smell like cigs, and not being able to air it out. Also I have tried to email them 2 times now, and still no response. THANKS! |

Hotel Santo Tomas advertises as being non-smoking in the rooms. I haven't heard it mentioned here as a mongering venue so can't advise on Chica fees or not. I'd go for the room on the right just past the desk, as it has French doors opening to the patio/pool area for late-night swims. OK+ restaurant and right across the street from Harry's Bar Poas (a CRT VIP Sponsor) which is a mixed Tico/ Gringo bar/grille with good cheap eats. email = info@hotelsantotomas.com tel = 2255-0448 fax = 2222-3950 all #'s in (506) country code natch |

Last trip I ran into a guy on his first trip who was going to stay there on the plane- he picked the hotel because it had the same first name – explained fee’s and some other things_ (like joining CRT to get advice of the experts)- to him and told him to make sure before he ask about ladies BEFORE takes a girl back there. When I saw him a few days later he told me he had no problems taking a lady there,_ he was holding her shoes at the time, she left her work shoes there and went home in her barefoot when her father came with his cab. But he did say any thing about what if any was the “extra fee†|

Pierre: I stayed there once, in 2004, so my info may be out of date. My room (a cheap one) did not have a window, but it was clean and comfortable w/o air conditioning. Decent service overall. I recall seeing a sign on the front desk that said "no guests." Candidly, I never tried to bring anyone back to the room, so I have no idea how firm this policy is. That trip, I did all my mongering at Zona Blue (one block away) and Idem. I discovered the Sportsmens Lodge during my stay at the Santo Tomas, and have been staying at the SL since then. Osogrande You can't buy happiness, but you can rent it. |

Owner is a Canadian Jesus freak married to a Tica lawyer--unless they sold it since I saw them last 2 years ago--they go to the same hotel as I do in Quepos same time of the year. No way unless maybe they were out of town and the desk guy was cool. |
