I really tried to research this topic prior to posting a new thread but was unsuccessfull. I will be going to SJ and Jaco in late April for my fourth trip, but first with a wingman (his first). I was looking at ways to cut costs and was wondering if sharing a room would put a damper on the trip? What have been some of the positive and negative experiences some of you have had pertaining to this topic? As always, I really appreciate any advice from the true CR veterans. |

To me I would guess it has to do with the physical layout of the hotel room. Back when I first started coming to Costa Rica I always came with the same wingman. We had know each other for many years so we always took a junior suite at the El Presidente. It worked well because there were two completely separate bedrooms. I would not have accepted an arrangement if there was one bedroom with 2 separate beds but that is a personal preference. Other might be comfortable with that type of arrangement. |

I think it would be some damper on the trip but could be done. You would need to ask yourself some questions first, some monger related and some that you would have to ask if even if this were a regular type of trip. First the non-monger questions: 1) How are comfortable are you with sharing your space? 2) Do either you or your friend snore or fart excessively? 3) Is either of your digestive systems as such that when you take a shit in the bathroom it stinks up the entire hotel room? 4) Are either of you messier or noisier than the other and how well can you deal with that (e.g. does he leave a wet messy bathroom or do you like to go to sleep with the TV on, etc.)? 5) Is one of you a smoker and the other a non-smoker? 6) Is one of you more of an early-riser morning person and the other more of a night owl? 7) Have you two ever travelled together before? 8 ) Do you have similar goals for your trip or do you have more in mind continuous mongering in the Gulch while he has in more of an eco-trip with some mongering thrown in? I haven't had to share a hotel room in many many years, but I have traveled with some buddies from back home and found that even just doing that (without even sharing a hotel room) could be very taxing at times. You really need to analyze your friendship and your respective personalities carefully first. You might find that some guys who are really fun to hang out with for an afternoon back home, can really got on your nerves after you've been with them day after day for most of the day during a weeklong vacation. Many of the above questions apply in such a situation but at least you can get some space from each other if you have seperate hotel rooms. If you're sharing that hotel room then all of those questions may apply. What about the mongering-related questions: 1) Are you primarily an MP guy? If so you can get most of your jollies outside the hotel room and may not have any issues at all because you don't need to bring any chicas back to your room. 2) Even if you do a lot of MP sessions, you'll still probably want to bring chicas back to the room on at least some of your nights. Will short-term 1-2 hour sessions be enough for you or do you like to do TLN's? 3) How do you plan to handle s-t sessions? Having you or your buddy come back to the room with a chica only to discover that the other guy has already hung a Do Not Disturb sign on the doorknob? Or will you and he be able to amicably work out an understanding like "you can have the room for a couple of hours while I continue to scope things out here at the bar"? 4) What happens when you and he find your respective chicas around the same time and are also ready to pull the trigger at the same time? How will you decide who gets to have the room first and how long does the other guy have to wait before he gets his chance? 5) What if one of you decides he has had enough for the night by 1-2AM and wants to hit the sack but the other wants to keep going or bring a chica back after those hours? 6) Or do neither of you care what your buddy is doing in the other bed? Exhibitionism/Voyeurism. 7) Obviously, if you share a hotel room, any TLN's would be even more of a problem than it would be for a ST session because it would not be like the odd man out could simply wait for an hour or two back in the bar until the other guy is done. This gets back to what I referred to in the previous question. Maybe TLN would not be a problem if neither of you minded having or being an audience or perhaps planned to have a chica swapping orgy. Personally, I'm with the others. Even if you could make this work, the relatively small savings involved don't offset the added inconvenience. If you really need to save money that badly, perhaps you could simply stay at a cheaper hotel. You did not mention what level hotel room you were thinking of splitting. Were you thinking of something like the junior suite at the Presidente or were you thinking of splitting something more like a standard $50/nt room at another regular hotel. Either way, there are decent hotel rooms in SJ for as low as $30/nt so 2 of those probably wouldn't cost much more than what you had in mind or might even cost less. |

A friend just came down and shared a room at the SL with his wingman (Presidential Suite). The wingman would not have been able to come if not for the generosity of my friend. My friend thought it would work out swell. He was in for a disappointment: As soon as they got to CR, the wingman hooked up with Tammy. Tammy and Wingie then disappeared into the bedroom for 6-8 hours at a time. Friend who paid for the room ended up sleeping on the hide-a-bed. Not a happy camper. Even if you know your wingman reeeeeeal well, things change when the boots hit the ground. My suggestion is that you get your own room and scrimp somewhere else. |

If he can't afford his own room he should stay home, like Florida. ![]() |

If you are both MP guys it will not impede you. If you do not need chicas to spend the whole night it will not inpede you. If you want to risk lying down on your buddies cold wet spot after his chica left the room, go for it ![]() |

Great input. There are factors mentionted that I hadnt considered. The consesus is that the little money saved is not worth the risk of screwing up a good time. Will be going at end of April for a week. 3 SJ, 2 Jaco, and 3 more in San Jose. After hearing your input (great questions Pro) I may only consider sharing for the two nights in Jaco. I always like the Hotel Cocal there and will most likely stay there again. Just no TLN's those nights. So, if I wanted to go out in stlyle the last few nights, it sounds like the mansion suites are the way to go. Is it really worth the extra money? Any two bedroom rooms at the SL aside the presdential suite? |

My rule is if you cant afford the room, you cant afford to play. Learned this the hard way after spending many hours on my first trip waiting for my wingman to finish what he was doing. I spent so much extra money on drinks and gambling while passing the time, I should have just paid for his own room. |

I have shared ZB suites MANY times... each gets his own room, we share a bathroom... Having said that, it has happend on day trips, that we have taken a room with two beds to phuk our girls... Of course neither of us mind phuking while the other is there, but that's just after years of doing it at ZB... |

Although I was by myself the room had 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. I paid $45 for the room. Every chica I brought back asked me about the other room. they were building the rail and every morning at 8am the jack hammers would start. |
