:D i recently stayed there from oct.30-nov.6th, the person who is runing the place had my credit card info . i had him send me an invoice and i like the last 3 times there decided to pay cash. well he ends up charging my credit card    i contacted him right away, and he said he would take care of it :? he wrote back that he was going to send me a check for the amount. the amount charged was $890 and he sent me a check for $250. i gave him ample time to make things right. finally i had to put a dispute on the charges. Nucknfuts witnessed me paying him on oct.30 . its a shame because i love that place.

Just another reason I NEVER use a credit card in Costa Rica, other than to use a debit card to make manual withdrawals at the bank inside the INS Building......and even then, I get chills handing over my card to the teller. :(

In our time running Casa Vino it was our pleasure to meet and work with a great many of you. I count many of you as my friends. I really appreciate the opportunity I had to serve you.

Unfortunately, my experiences with this particular guest have been anything but pleasurable. Florida was constantly working the angles, always looking to get out of paying what he owed. No matter how good of a deal I gave him, he was looking get more and more and more. To top it off, he was a real jerk about it.

On his most recent stay he arrived and announced upon arrival that he was not going to pay until later, knowing full well what our policy has been all these years was payment upon arrival. After lengthy re-negotiations, I gave him yet another discount on top of his normal cash discount, which by the way was substantially less than the CRT discount. (essentially 50% off and he wasn't happy with that) Only problem was he didn’t have all the cash. I received part payment with a promise to get the rest the next day. I spent three days trying to track him down. This was not new.

On his previous visit, I was out of town and another highly respected CRT member agreed to help me out. Upon arrival Florida first came up with a bogus excuse for not paying upon arrival. Florida took full advantage of the situation. This CRT Member had to spend days tracking him down to collect payment. Finally, hours before Florida’s departure he collected the cash, less $300 than what he owed.

For those that know me and those that know Florida, I will let our reputations speak for themselves. I have nothing further to add to this subject.

Again, thank you to all of you that gave us your business. There are a great bunch of guys here.

Admin, please remove my proper name from the post. THANKS

Yea agree it would be real difficult to find him in Casa Vino. But to suggest an Innkeeper should have to go to HDR or KL to try and find a guest to get him to pony up his room rent is kind of off the charts.

I have no idea what happened in this situation and hope both (or all 3) parties get it straightened out but I do know a little about Florida. When I first met him he offered me the extra room in the master suite at a discounted rate. After I got back to the states I discovered the hotel had double billed me. Florida immediately offered to take care of it and sent me a personal check for the difference. Also I can not count the times that he has generously bought rounds at happy hour and picked up the tab for lunch or dinner. If there is one thing Florida is NOT it's a cheapskate. For CasaVino to come on here with character asassination trying to make Florida out to be some cheap, dishonest, elusive gringo trying to cheat them out of a few hundred bucks on a hotel bill is not the best way to handle it IMO and reflects poorly on them.

I was the member who "guest hosted" Florida. After several attempts to collect the money owed, Florida promised to meet me at SL in the afternoon. I arrived at he Sportsman's Lodge at the appointed hour and waited and waited and waited. Finally, a friend came in and asked why I was looking pissed. I told him I had been waiting for Florida to arrive for over three hours. He then told me that he had just seen Florida at the HDR.

I headed to the HDR and finally tracked down Florida at the Key Largo. He had the cash so all was well. Hey, Florida is a great guy as long as you don't mind having your time wasted and having to chase him down to fulfill his obligations.

Guess everyone has there own opinion of what makes a "great guy". Doubt I would grant that description to a guy who had me wait 3 hours at an agreed upon location and then force me to track him down. In my experience anyone who has to be tracked down so he could fulfill his obligations really had no intention of fulfilling them.

Knew I should have stayed out of this thread. It's a shame this wasn't simply worked out instead of going public, CasaVino is supposedly a great place to stay and wish them continued success with their business.

Reminder to all you have an issue I have no problem each party stating their case remember to follow Forum rules & regulations.

NO real names in threads....

Use common sense making a signature to vent your problem in every thread you have ever written thousands... That crosses the line.

As stated I have no problem with the persons giving their side of the story, but this will not get out of control I promise you that.

Sorry my disagreeing with the position you support upsets you. That's the wonderful thing about a forum people can have different view points.
