Here's an update on the Puma Room: Large..Spacious..just like in the pictures...Very Nice Decor...Comfortable HUGE Bed. Very large bathroom with good size Jacuzzi bathtub. The jets work GREAT..very strong. There is a door on the side that leads to a small shared patio area and from the patio you can walk straight into the private bar/loung from there. Nice a very quiet ambiance. I good size Flat Panel TV (note: Programming is NOT in HD format) hangs from the ceiling with excellent choice of programming including 3 or 4 pretty decent hard core Porn channels. There's also a DVD player right below the TV. I brought some DVD's with me from the States but they didn't seem to work on this player. Maybe the DVD format is different here than US players. Air Conditioning works great and Internet (wireless) also works very good. The closet is deceptively small. I was surprised how much I was able to fit into it since I brought enough stuff for an entire week. There is also a stocked minibar/small refrigerator. It's large enough that you can stop at the market and buy your own drinks and store them. There is a small safe inside the closet. Large enough to fit essentials like wallets and some camera equipment but not large enough to fit a laptop. The windows are large and there is a thin clear curtain overlaid with a large thicker red curtain that keeps the room really dark enough so that you can sleep as long as you want. Other than the large bed--2 nightstands and refrigerator there is a small round table with 2 chairs. Very practical for laptop work. If I were to suggest any changes .... I would suggest that the room have a nice comfortable Lounge Chair (or 2) and maybe just a couple of throw rugs on the floor (just my personal opinion). The room is definitely large enough to accomodate a couple Lounge Chairs. Overall---An EXCELLENT room and very stylish and classy. KUDOS to Bill for a Great Job on this expansion. |

Trader, it's not the format of the DVDs that is the problem. They all have the same digital format and the TVs in CR are NTSC just like TVs here in the US. The problem is with the region code of your DVDs. Almost all commercially produced DVDs have a region code. The US and Canada are Region 1. Europe is Region 2. I'm not sure what region Central and/or South America are but they are definately not Region 1.
Each DVD player will pre "programmed" with the region code for the market where it was sold. Evidently Bill bought the player in CR (or maybe Panama?) and not in the US. But don't give up hope! Some DVD players are "hackable". This means that some players can be "re-programmed" into having a Region Code of "0" which will enable it to play DVDs with any region code. If you know the make and model of the player you can search the internet for a possible "hack". This is usually a sequence of remote control button pushes. Maybe a future guest in that room can investigate this. |

The Player in the Puma Room IS a DVD player. The model is: Samsung DVD-P280K but it doesn't play DVD's from the U.S. Too bad since I brought about 10 with me. |

I made a music cd and it worked just fine FWIW. Cujo |

Come on now, how could Bill slip up like this. Does the Penthouse have a working DVD player in it? This was probably the last thing on his mind with the expansion going on. |
