I know its the holiday season and all, but I decided to take a month off work and maybe head down to CR again. While looking for tickets, I almost had a heart attack at the rate increase.

Flying from Orlando usually costs me 300 bucks, going thru FLL or MIA. I did a "flexible dates" search, and everything is between 450 and 800!! So I guess I'll be staying home, I cant justify that much for a ticket for a 4 or 5 day trip.

Don't give up. Get creative. I did a search on the Spirit Site and used the dates 12/07 to 12/12 for a start. Orlando to CR was $553.02 bare bones. So I did another from FFL to CR and it was$229.02. If you don't mind a three and a half hour drive each way and spending about $41. in gas. About 432 miles@1.89 gal. you will only spend around $270. total. Add in parking @ Park and Fly about $60. You would still be on budget. Good luck and have fun.

Set up a trip tracker through Kayak.com and you can see the prices flucuate on a daily basis. I'm sure they'll come down for the dates you're looking at going. If you set up a trip tracker you'll get an email every day, I have a couple of them set up now and highly recommend it.
