I have a slightly different take on Jaco than Chilimike. I've stayed a the Copa on four seperate occasions and really liked it. The studios are small but clean and they have a safe in all the rooms. Both the pool and poolside bar have been renovated and are quite nice. The staff seems friendly and fairly helpful, though nobody seems to jump through hoops to help you out. I simply attribute that to the general tico attitude. I've never really had any problems with them.

There is definitely a different vibe in Jaco as opposed to SJ. A lot of guys don't like it because of the heat. I suppose it all depends on what you're used to. Yes, it's warm and humid, but most buildings have AC. There is more of a "surfer/beach hangout" feel by day, with a fairly young crowd of, mainly, American K*ds spending their parents money. I like hanging out at the pool and gawking at college chicks and vacationers lounging on the beach, and there is plenty of eye candy wandering through the gift shops.

About 9PM the Beatle Bar starts getting more crowded. Of course everyone has there opinions, but it seems to me that the same level of talent can be had at the BB as can be had at the DR, for good or ill. By the way, most will say that there is no action during the day, but if you look for it, you might find something at the Bohio bar ar at the Copa pool sometimes.

I like making Jaco a side trip whenever I go to Cost Rica. It's nice to get out of the city for a little bit and get a different view. In fact, I will be in Jaco again in February, staying at the Copa. I'm sure it will be a great time.

Stayed there twice and loved it both times. No complaints but Jaco isnt the greatest in my opinion.

I have stayed at the Copa on three seperate occasions and have found the staff to be very friendly and service oriented. The rooms are clean and certainly adequate for a short visit. Jaco itself has its virtues but if you are expecting the same availability of chicas that is available in SJO, you will probably be disappointed. Plenty of action at night at Beatle Bar and to a lesser extent, Monkey Bar but daytime activities are mostly limited to beach and jungle activities.

I stayed at the Copacabana for three nights. Downside, they charged my credit card for the first night and then charged me again at checkout. They have room phones that charge you 40.00 a minute for calls.Upside it is a very nice place with service orriented emplyees and a great view. overall I would reccomend.

I booked a couple of rooms there 3 weeks ago and was a little surprised when they went ahead and charged my credit card for 1 day. I went back to their web site and looked a little closer at their policies and they flat out tell you they are charging you the1st. night , nonrefundable. Not too crazy about that but we will see. The last time we were in jaco we stayed @ the best western and it was mostly families with K*ds. Okay be not what we were looking for.

They do tell you that they are charging for the first night , but my bad for not noticing opon checkout that I was double billed. I did not know untill I checked out my AMEX that it had happened,. No big deal that is why I use AMEX so I can dispute. Don't consider what I said to be negative, I loved the place.
