wow, that in unbelievable! i live ten minutes from the ontario airport, damn, that could have saved me some serious money if i didn't go back to philly for the world series!

I booked American Airlines a couple days ago (for my December trip) - from Miami to SJO for $79 each way / $218 all in. That price is good through mid-January '09.

If it doesn't work, just log onto AA.com and on the left side of the screen, click on "Fare Sales & Special Offers". Then, when you get the screen that prompts you to put in your departure / arrival airports, just put in - From: MIA To: SJO. That'll give you the price and dates. As of now, their $79 special runs through Jan 29, 2009.

Yesterday, today was available for a 4 night stay. Next Thursday is still available for a 4 night stay. Every other date for the next two weeks is available for $10 more. Later in November, some dates show no availability or fares over $1000. Deals return the first week of December with Thursday 12/4 at a base fare of $105.

The above fares are all based on a 4 night stay. To look at a months worth of available dates with different lengths of stays you can try this approach:

Go to Continental.com
Go to Deals and Offers
Choose Continental.com specials
Select a fare from any city pair

This should bring you to their departure Calendar (its a nice tool but the only way I know to get there).

Within "modify calendar" choose put your city in the "departure" field (ONT in this case) and put "SJO" in the "to" field. Choose the number of nights for your length of stay and hit the "update calendar" button.

If you are talking about the Ontario deal, go to Continental's site and type in the dates you want. For example, leaving Nov 11 and returning Dec 16 qualifies for sure, $105+tax. I checked for a Feb-April trip and that is a no. I believe it's only available from November to January, with most dates available.

You can ALWAYS use sidestep.com to find the best prices at any major airline or travel site. If you search those dates on sidestep, it will come up $171, which is the price including tax. Sidestep is THE best site out there, I don't work for them, I just use their service every time I travel.
