Post subject: | Hotel Morazon Rooms |
I've stayed at the Morazon twice. Each time I stayed there. I've always gotten a crappy room. But there are tons of post that rave about it. Is there a specific room type I need to ask for. |

I stay in room 501. It's a Jr. suite with a balcony, king size bed, nice size TV. I don't use the hotel for anything but the room. Resturant sucks, not much of a bar. In fact I'll be there about 11 pm tonight. I like staying there even though the hotel's a dump because of location ![]() |

I don't think you really get "tons of post that rave about it" or if you do it is only by guys that are trying to offset the "tons of posts" that trash the place. IMHO, the Morazon is not anything fantastic (which is why I haven't stayed there in a while) but it is not anywhere nearly as horrible as some others make out. You have to consider that you get what you pay for and the Morazon is a budget priced hotel (that also happens to be in an ideal location). You can't compare their $35/nt rooms to rooms that start at nearly twice as much at places like the SL (unless perhaps you're comparing it to the standard rooms at the HDR ![]() If you feel that the standard rooms at the Morazon don't meet up to your standards, then either upgrade your room as Hank does or stay at a nicer place further away from the BM/KL like the SL where room prices are more on par with what Hank paid for his Jr. Suite. OTOH, if price and location trump room quality, then deal with the room quality and continue to stay where you have been. |

![]() I believe I stayed in 501 my first to CR 4 years ago. Is there a jacuzzi tub in that room? The only downside for me was the outside noise is atrocious and doesn't stop all night and day since it's right next to the main street. SK |

From all the complaints about Morazan, the lost reservations/room given away is the most frequent. What a joke of a hotel, even for CR. |

What a joke of a hotel, even for CR. Told Ricky Ricardo my remote did not work and waited 10 minutes until he brought me another which also did not work ![]() |

Post subject: | Morazan is a fine hotel. |
I have stayed at the Morazan for 5 years and I mean 12 times per year as I go for 3 nights per month. I stayed at Del Rey 1998-2001 and presidente 2002-2003 and one time I got to Presidente and they were sold out so I went to Morazan and was welcomed and have been staying my 3-4 nights per month ever since. They have a new manager Jose Troyano and he does a great job with the place . Myself and my 18 year old son will be on the late Delta flight tomorrow night . I enjoy the sports book and location as well. I have had minor issues but never what I would call a problem. I am a pilot and can afford to stay anywhere but the Morazan gets my vote and my money. If you have never stayed at the Morazan please do not give your opinion until you do. It would be like me giving my opinion on Sportsmens Lodge I can not give an honest one until I stay at the place. I can speculate or go by heresay but have no first hand experience. |

I stayed there once, my room was smelly with a used condom on the floor, the windows didn't open, I went to MasXMenos and bought a can of Lysol and sprayed the whole can in the room. Another CRT guy had a suite and it wasn't much better, neither of us were satisfied and we checked out the next morning since they said there were no other rooms available, messing with the bellhop Ricky Ricardo was the only good part of our short stay. I've also wondered if they actually had any nicer rooms or if they're all about the same. |

I will tell you what , on second thought don't none of you CRT members dare stay at the Morazan . It is filled with only bad. Stay Away so that those of us who do like it will always have our rooms. CRT do not book a room or even think about staying at the Morazan . Please read your paying members posts and stay at Sportsmens or other discount place. The Morazan is not for you . have a great day . |

Room 501 is a very nice room with king size bed and balcony. Angie promised me that room however when I arrived they had already given the room away so had to stay in room 502 with only full size bed. The place is convienient to HDR. |

Harlo wrote: If you have never stayed at the Morazan please do not give your opinion until you do. I think Harlo is right (even though he's a Republican ![]() I can only relate my own experiences. I've stayed there a number of times. I'll admit I haven't stayed there recently, but not because I wouldn't stay there again, rather because I've found other places I prefer and don't feel the need to be so close to the BM/KL which IMHO are not all that. I have NEVER had a reservation problem at the Morazon INCLUDING back in the day when MOST of the stories that were the basis for that reputation actually took place. Back then the Morazon was an "in" alternative to the HDR and the Prez and places like the Castillo and the SL were either unknown or non-existent, because of that the Morazon was often fully booked. Now that is no excuse for a messed up reservation system but it does suggest that maybe that is not nearly so much of a problem now that so many mongers have moved on to other hotels and the place usually has extra rooms whether you have a reservation or not. As for the other complaints, I've never found used condoms on my floor (other than my own). I'm sure if Paco says that happened it happened but it is NOT at all typical from my experience. I've found the quality of housekeeping to always be perfectly fine for me. And I think slip ups in cleaning can occasionally occur anywhere. The only problem I ever had at the Morazon was with some elevator doors that at the time would close 2 seconds after closing (I still have bruises on my shoulders from where the damn thing tried to eat me ![]() ![]() There are other shortcomings for this place. There is street noise as there would be at any place in the heart of downtown and there can be casino noise as there can be at any place that has a casino, but there was never enough to really bother me. If you're a light sleeper then stay somewhere else OR better yet spend a lousy buck for earplugs which really do work well. Being in a noisy area is an unfortunate trade-off of being so close to the HDR. The rates do not include breakfast. Or maybe it does but the food is not that good. I also stay at the Castillo and can tell you the breakfast there is no great shakes either. There is no law you have to eat where you stay (or stay where you eat) and I usually get OUT for a $2 tico breakfast at local soda - Problem solved. In sum, of course the Morazon is far from perfect, but it is not NEARLY as horrible as the reputation that has been spread about it. It is a budget hotel and as such is not going to be as nice as more expensive places. To compare it on that basis is unfair. It can be noisy but that mostly comes from being so close to the BM/KL which is a very busy area. If you want a cheap place to stay that is within easy and reasonably safe walking distance of the BM/KL and is still fairly decent, then you could do FAR worse than the Morazon. |

Prolijo...a Continental breakfast IS included. And, it's not that bad. Nothing special, but it's OK. I liked the 'layout' of the Morazan a little better several years ago, when the bar and restaurant area was on the first floor. |
