Post subject: | Plunging Crude Oil Prices |
The futures contract for Crude was almost limit down ($10.00) yesterday. I wonder if we'll see some of these airline fares to C.R. come back down to the $200 - $300 range they way they used to be. I did see A.A. had a fare from LAX to SJO for about $420 (I thinki TACA was around $550 - $600) (these are early to mid December fares I was looking at by the way). Last December my fare was about $252. Love to see those kind of numbers again. |

I think airfares will drop. The problem is not so much fuel prices now, as a very poor economic situation, which will keep people from traveling. Airlines will drop prices to lure reluctant travelers. This economy is ever-changing. You can't predict much of anything. Just like General Motors coming out with the electric car [the Volt] in the near future, which is to be their saviour............I wonder how many they'll sell at near $40,000 each, when gasoline prices are starting to drop like a rock. ![]() SIDENOTE: USAIRWAYS, at just about anytime in Jan/Feb; $370 TOTAL R/T from WASH/DULLES to SJO. |

I flew up to the US and back this week on Continental. The planes were all full, in fact, each segment was over booked by about three people per segment. If the airlines can retain higher airfares, they probably will. However, my guess is that if one airline lowers the price, the others will follow. And one airline will probably lower its prices. Every flight I have taken this year the planes have been full. It makes me wonder how the airlines keep saying they are not making money when the planes are full. |

With the losses every the airlines took during raising oil, my bet will be that it’s going to be a game of chicken on the way down to see who blinks first before any regular air fares drop—exemption to this will be specials cropping up to fill planes—those of us who have the free time to go on short notice will get some GREAT deals... for the rest of us we need to watch and track fares—as I pointed out on a prior post it appears the pricing has changed a little from historical methods and now the cheaper fares now seem to be 30 days out and not the 60 as it used to be—I track BKK MNL and SJO from MSP and that has held true for me. A little, planning now may make a big differance |

Not to jack thread but...US Air. Hadn't flown them in years....due to getting bumped and shafted they put me in first class last night Philly-MIA. No cold beer, no food. In first class. Not even the warm nuts and cookie AA offers. Bigger seat, yes. Bitch all you want about AA, Jet Blue, and Delta but I will fly no other carriers interstate (SW is good for instant Fla trips). Would fly Contental but they don't really jive with my airprorts. Now back to the scheduled topic........ |

That pilot scenario sounds like the recipe for a disaster. Well I guess the crystal meth gets him through his airline shift. |

If you think this is bad......you should see the yacht business. If it wern't for exports, we would be done. It is fun to see all the rats jump ship and others being thrown overboard. |

I just hope that which ever guy wins the presidency they remember all their rhetoric about focusing on developing alternative fuels for surface transportation. |

You really have a great point El Viejo. It really makes you wonder why anyone in their right mind would work so hard just to become president. They really give up significant freedom when the turn their lives over to handlers and advisors. Things are scheduled so tightly they hardly have time to take a healthy dump. There are few pleasures in this earth life that can compare to the satisfaction one receives from a healthy bowl movement. And they are so visible, they couldn’t do what we do. I don’t mean just the president, but governors, mayors of bigger cities and other notable elected officials live in a fish bowl. It would be nearly impossible for them to relax, have a beer, and watch a game with some little spinner sitting on your lap, snuggling and purring, waiting for you to slip your hand into that loose fitting top where her bubbling breasts are calling out your name. No, if you are a famous politician, some Phucker is waiting to sell a photo of you, one that will make him some dollars but destroy everything you have worked for. Why would anyone want to play that game? If anyone has an answer, I would like to hear it. |

Most of the people in elected positions or running for such positions are egotistical, power-driven maniacs. They get off on it. You get off by having a hot spinner on your lap and watching a game, they get off having people running around kissing their ass all day. |

The only difference with him was he got caught (actually more like sold out) but he still managed to survive. |

I think you are right-on Orange. It takes a huge ego to run for elective office. Most of us on this board are of a like mind regarding sexual liaisons. My guess is that none of us cared that Monica was giving presidential head in the Oval Office. Do you think non-mongers feel the same way? Obviously the religious zealots would condemn it publically, but it is highly likely they would be envious of the president in their private thoughts. Salacious little bastards! |
