I flew in a day earlier then my buddy. I stayed at the Amistad for one night. I paid for it in cash. My buddy came in the next day and we went to Jaco. We were planning on coming back to Amistad for a few days. But we changed plans and I called Marlene well before 24 hours to cancel the rest of my reservations. She claimed it was all done, but just to send an email just in case. For some reason my CC was charged for 2 nights??? I called Carlos and he told me the system was down and to re-email and the charges would come off. Well, I am back in the states now and what was only pending charges are now complete charges. I just called and was told by some guy that he could not help me. He only works nights and has no control over it. It seems no one can help me on this. I spoke to Marlene and she said it was taken care of. Then I spoke to Carlos and was assured it was taken care of and the charges are still there?? This is why I HATE prebooking reservations with a CC. i like to pay in cash and I always do. I go to Thailand every year and they take a reservation online and no CC is needed. Should I just dispute the charges with my CC company? I have the copy of the receipt of the one night's stay and it says it was paid in cash. I have emails that were sent stated the cancellations. Very unprofessional. |

You have a time limit, I believe 60 days, from the time the charged appeared on your bill to dispute the charge. Hopefully the situation will be corrected by the hotel and your disputing the charge will become moot but if not then you have acted in time to get a resolution by the CC company. |

I spoke to Caros this morning and they said the charges were made by accident. He was sorry to inform me he could not retract them???? He told me to make the dispute and let the CC Company take care of it. Unfortunately it was a Paypal Debit/Mastercard. Normally I use a Chase card, but I had so much in my Paypal account, I only brought that debit card with me, plus cash. Now I have to go through a entire process with Paypal to dispute the charge. Next time I will make reservation with a regular CC. I just cannot beieve they cannot just reverse the charges. I do not know of any Zon Machine that does not allow that?? |

This is out of hand. Paypal needs me to make a detailed description of every detail in the claim. Why, when, how? Then print it, sign it and send a copy into them????? I have to do this for each transaction. Then they will decide if I am suppose to get a refund??? within 60 days? I give the hell up. Amistad might as well keep my 2 nights worth of money. This is like a refund check. They make you jump through hoops to get it, hoping you will not follow through. Well, they got me. I am not following through. I can say this. If Amistad actually has a Zon machine that cannot give reverse charges, maybe they should not be so quick in authorizing the charges???? Essentially they got me for 2 nights stay. I know they offer a discount to CRT members. They will not even chime in here? The 12 calls I made from my Cell phone and all the time I have taken so far is far more then the 163 bucks they took from my Paypal Debit Card. Note to self. NEVER reserve a room at Amistad with a CC. You will be charged for NOTHING. I paid for the condo in Jaco with a CC. Funny how they only charged for what was agreed upon. I guess you can trust a stranger from Craiglist more then an actual, hotel. Strange???? |

PayPal isn't a bank so you have to follow their standard dispute process which closely mirrors that of their parent company, Ebay. |

Paypal is a piece of shit company with a huge ego... I went off on someone on the phone yesterday over a problem I have with a merchants account. And the thing that I went off about is that nobody ever helps you or answers a question. They always have another question to verify who you say you are. Be very careful with Paypal. If the guy at Amistad is admitting he made a mistake, see if maybe you can get credit for the two nights for your next trip. Long shot but what do you have to lose. |

You should talk to Matt, I know he will fix this mistake. On my stay there I told him of a problem with my room and Joker97`s room on the first night . To my surpise he told the guy at the front desk to not charge us for the first night. Matt is not into ripping people off but it may be his staff just doesn`t know how to fix this. IMHO |

I'm sure Amistad will make it right, meanwhile you now know one of many reasons why Paypal sucks ass. With Amex all it takes is a phone call. |

That's why I took them off my Ebay site and cancelled my PayPal Card. Go to paypalsucks.com and see why you don't use PayPal ever!!!! I think this hotel is owned by an american isn't it? Should be an easy fix. Have him write a letter and fax it to you that the charges where a mistake and he authorizes a refund or credit to your card. This should work, but then again your dealing with Paypal.
