Is there anything to do during the day out in Playa Hermosa? I'm not talking about the girl action, just stuff to do/see. I'll be in Jaco from 9/2 9/4 and was thinking about checking it out for a day. I know the Backyard Hotel is there, but how is the beach? Keroseneflat |

If you get a rental car for a day or two you can drive up and down the coast to see all the beach towns, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Ocetal, Pan de Azucar etc. You will enjoy that as a day trip and will stumble upon some nice beach side restaurants. A ride up to the Hacienda Guachepelin near Liberia is also a nice day trip, replete with ancient stone petroglyphs, zip lining, rappelling, volcanic mud baths and horseback riding. The beach at Hermosa is nice, and some rudimentary snorkeling is available at beaches in the area. Deep seafiching is available inthe area and Mucho Gusto could hook you up for that. |

Playa hermosa is a beautiful clean beach. There are about 10 12 hotels and maybe 4 or 5 bars and restaurants. The surf can be rough so be careful. Seems to be a quiet peaceful place. |

What El Viejo said about driving up the coast through the beach towns...that is a lot of fun. There is a great bar/ restaurant if you make the drive from Tamarindo to Flamingo called the Happy Snapper. You pass right by it ( I think it is technically in Brasalito?). It has really great seafood and a real cool vibe to the place. Definitely worth the stop. |

Or you can drive south about an 45 - 60 mins to Quepos/M.A. and see one of the nicest beaches in the world, national park, lots of bars and eateries; or go a few hours further to Dominical, surfer place for the most part, lots of bars also. North or south you'll enjoy it. |

I checked out Playa Hermosa for the first time on my last trip to Jaco and loved it. Beautiful and quiet with a few cool live music bars to hang out at - practically the antithesis of Jaco. Hell - I would stay there next time instead of in Jaco itself - it's close enough to be easily accessible, and I doubt too many of the girls would have a problem going there. |

to me Playa Hermosa is a boring place. If you are heading in that direction, I'd suggest Playa Brasilito or Playa Flamingo. |

Maybe I'm wrong but is there more than one Playa Hermosa. I think the original question was in reference to Playa Hermosa which is about 10 or 15 minutes south of Jaco but seems like some of the responses are regarding another Playa Hermosa (Is there a Playa Hermosa in the Northern Pacific region?). Playa Hermosa south of Jaco I thought was a very nice beach--good if you're seeking some peace and tranquility and beauty. Some nice homes for sale in the Opera Selvaje area there. |

Ditto on the Happy Snapper or whatever the name is in Brasilito. It is a wonderful ocean front restaurant. Service is superb from the time they open your car door for you right up to the finger bowl at yourtableto clean your pinkies after eating fresh seafood. |

Bond Trader, I may have turned this thread away from the other Hermosa beach near Jaco with my first response. I thought he was asking about the one in Guanacaste. |

I was specifically interested in the Playa Hermosa just south of Jaco. Sounds like it might be worth checking out. Thanks! Keroseneflat |

The Playa Hermosa just south of Jaco hosts a great surfing championship. The waves are only to be surfed by experts according to my cab driver. It looks quiet. It's only about 15 minutes south of Jaco on the road to Quepos. |

Playa Hermosa is nice. Girls have no problem going there. Try the Jungle Surf Cafe next to the socccer feild for good grub. The surf there barrels more and is world class at times. Very nice place. |
