I'll be in SJ for business and need a 'higher end' place that I can say I'm staying out without my local business colleagues getting suspicious. So all the monger places are out.
Would prefer to be closer to city center than airport. Trip is at end of this month.

Any suggestions?

Trip report upon my return.

Agree......Hotel Presidente should be OK for you. Higher end place, yet allows chicas [who are properly dressed by their standards]. They get a mix of all sorts there......mongers, business people, eco-tourists, families, etc. Only several blocks from the Hotel Del Rey / Blue Marlin Bar [ground zero].

No fees but there are some restrictions you should be aware of. Only 1 chica, at a time, allowed and they have a dress code. A chica who is dressed in a manner that shows to much skin will be turned away. Most HDR girls are aware and will dress appropriately when they know you are staying there.

The Presidente is a good choice. In case they are booked, you might want to consider the Marriott Courtyard as a fallback option. The downside is that it is located in Escazu, a $10 taxi ride from ground zero. The upside (beyond "chica-friendliness") is that you don't have to worry about some troll from accounting questioning your choice when the expense report is filed.
