Fare: $149.00

Taxes and Fees: $139.72

Total: $288.72

Airline taxes and fees are getting worse than the phone companies.

THis is how you are helping pay for all the new airport facilities in both San Jose and Panama City. At least we are able to see the comparative costs...and even make decisions about our travel destinations based on what city/country gouges the most. I fear that PTY unforunately is leading the way towards over charging and making this destination undesireable compared to other potential business or tourism destination. It's nice to have new facilites...and things are definitely improved in that department. But, arguably it will be a poor investment if large portions of the potential market no longer travel there.

FYI...that is still one of the best rates I have seen in a while between PTY and SJO. Go for it  ...

Hiya TMan,

If I had booked two weeks ago it would have been $210 total :(

PTY could increase their revenues drastically if they would just sell newspapers, magazines and books in the departure teminal.

I can't believe that they have a whole store that sells nothing but M&Ms, but you can not buy a newspaper or magazine.

They have stores that sell xboxes, ps3s, stereo equipment, TVs, etc.. how many people buy big bulky electronic items when they are getting on a plane?

I like the PTY airport - I like the resturant upstairs and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. The security is pretty good without being idiots about it.

I just wish I could buy a newspaper :)
