I just checked and air fares to Rio are $1200 one-way. http://www.cfnews13.com/News/Local/2008 ... _high.html A few years ago I thought $800 roundtrip was high. American doesn't even post roundtrip fares anymore. It's all one-way quotes, as many of the foreign airlines have been doing. It is completely out of control. Cali from Miami is above $750 (roundtrip) and it was $380 not long ago. I know CR is still a relative bargain, although with $100-dollar dates, that has its own liability. Geesh...! |

If airfares keep rising, most of us will be limited to getting at most a $20 BJ from a local crack whore in our respective cities. That is a sad future! |

Just received an e-mail from AA, they no longer work with Kayak.com for airfares. Just waiting and hoping SWA starts flying to SJO!!! Regards, 911 Driver |

Interesting.....I had read several months ago that the airlines might possibly start saving their best fares for their own websites. This might be the start of it. |

Fotunately fares to SE asia are staying fairly compettitive. I guess the competition with Asian carriers is keeping prices down. Fares this year from Dallas to Bangkok and Manilla are around $1200 round trip, only a little over a $100 more than last year. Latin america fares have gone up much more percentage wise. rbc100 |

I agree....The rise in airfares has made SE Asia much more attractive, as of late. My flight into MNL, in October, cost just over $900. Sure, I have to use miles to get me to LAX, but I have plenty for domestic fights Recent fares into SJO are running $750. The difference in airfare can easily be made-up in 2 days of companionship. At $40-50 TLN, you can get in as many "pops" as you like and have a friend to hangout with while you are recovering. Just tough to have enough days to make that trip across the Pacific too often. |

WOW, wish I had miles to get me into MIA. Guess it's too much to hope that Frontier will add MIA to their routes given their current financial situation? LOL Man, for that rate, I could go down every month! |

Regards, 911 Driver I was wondering why my recent kayak buzz alerts didn't contain any AA fares. Why did they stop I wonder? Is there another site similar to kayak that AA posts their fares on? SK |

I'm looking at $343 for my Sept trip from Detroit, and cannot figure out why the airfares from here are not skyrocketing--actually holding steady and much lower than many previous years. Yet, then I look at flights from New Orleans, which I am checking out as a place to move, and the cost is almost double??? PS.--Phuck AA |

It seems CR remains a good value for airfare at this point. A month ago I booked a January flight on USAIRWAYS.....$376 total R/T from Dulles. |

Some fares to SJO seem to be coming back down. Early in the summer RT flights from SFO were $600-700. I found some today in the $498-510 range. Thats not that much more than the $451 I paid in March. However they do require more stops. |
