does anyone know if there are any Convenience Stores or small food stores near ZB or NF? When I get to san jose I want to buy some bottled water and pre packaged snacks. Preferably within walking distance orf ZB or NF. I am a CRT member and I have the map, is there 1 on there? Any help would be greatly appriciated. THANKS.

The only thing that comes to mind, is the La Croillita Restaurant.....one block in front of the Castillo and slightly to the right.

In other words, If you were standing in front of the INS BUILDING, with your back to the building, go "right" down that street in front of the INS BUILDING about 50 yards. La Crollita is on the opposite side of the street.
They have good food, snacks, bottled water, pastries, etc.

The Wal-Mart derivative, Mas y Menos (I think that's the name) is not a far walk from The Castillo and has everything you could want and more in the way of food stuffs. Good prices, too. The staff will be more than happy to point you in the correct direction. It is further than the first place mentioned, however. Irrespective, the small walk will give you a nice little exposure to the general area and is more than safe during the daytime.....

If need be, it's less than a $1.00 cab ride from The Castillo. Open early and late too!

I've spent a lot of time in the area and I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you mean the area past Cafe Mundo? What streets do you mean? When the little tienda at Criolitas stopped selling beer it was a real bother, though they do sell water and some snacks. There have been several puplerias in the area, as well as a fruit stand that have closed too. Look around the businesses in the area change constantly. By the way, Mas X Menos is pronounced "mas por menos." The X is used as in multiplication.

7-11, Citgo? I think you are thinking San Jose California   I guess a Citgo is possible in the future as Hugo spread his influence thru-out Central America.

Auto Mercado is the closest with the best selection for everything you could desire considering it is a full size grocery store. I believe it's 2 blocks west of the Holiday Inn on the same street.

The closest Mas X Menos is much farther down on Central east of Costa del Sol. Check the VIP map.

I think that there is a tienda on the corner next to Bar Poas. That is only a block or two from NF/ZB. Check the VIP map for Bar Poas.

It won't be open 24/7 like convenience stores in the US. Only daytime. Mas X Menos is open late and even open on Sunday.
