$20 or $22 by cab. Or $7 on Interbus. I am hooked on Interbus until they change the price.

Dang, I thought it was still $18, at least that what it was my last trip. Oh well, 4 bucks isnt gonna kill me. And dont tip 0, I at least always tip 5. In the grand scheme of things, that 5 tip is gonna mean a lot more to that cab driver than it does to me.

No doubt, I give a straight $25 going to and fro...

if you use the metter from the airport to the hotel it would run about $15 to $16. so $20 -$22 is over price already. if it's one of the regular drivers i use i would tip.

Are you sure about that? There is a lot of traffic sometimes coming into and in San Jose, and the CR meters just run, whether you're going or stuck in traffic.

Supposedly you can pay the taxi fare (orange airport cabs) at the kiosk, but then demand that the driver run his meter...and if the amount is lower than what you paid at the kiosk, the driver is supposed to give you a rebate. I've never tried this.

Tipping (sorry I.D.): It is customary to tip the taxi driver a couple bucks per bag, if he helps you with your luggage. Otherwise, tipping is not customary.

Historically, my most reliable drivers (memo and his brother) have charged me $20.00 to/from the airport. I always tip these two generously, because they always help me with my suitcases and don't mind making a stop or two on the way to the hotel. YMMV.

This is not true. The reason they have a higher flat rate in the orange airport taxis is because they return empty 95% of the time.

Agree this is definitely not true, Also the rate on the meter is higher than normal cabs, I know this because I went to one destination and paid the kiosk to there, and then said hey continue on I will pay you whatever to go 4 more kilometers and that 4 kilometers was about 50% more than it should have been he ran the meter and all and boy did that thing spin. I wasnt upset because I like those new orange cabs with the good ac so the extra dinero didnt bother me.

well traffic could at to it. and you would have to leave the airport and get a cab outside to get this. but when i leave the hotel from HDR or Morazon i have them run the metter and it's always between 7k to 8k range.
