Myself and a few partners are considering starting a service similar to Interbus. It would be based out of the HDR and accomodate airport and Jaco trips. We are also thinking about massage parlor and night club tours as well.

We are partnering with a local and reputable driver and his son. I'm looking for feedback on this venture.

Does this appear to be a business that can survive in what would appear to be an already crouded space.

Do not expect to make any money in business in Costa Rica. Consider it a hobby and like most hobbies they cost money. Once in a while a hobby produces a profit and then you have an exception. Remember the million dollar rule when you start your hobby. If you want to leave Costa Rica with a million dollars , start with 2 million. Good Luck

I'm in the same boat. Been trying to make a reservation for airport pick-up. The website is having issues. I contacted them & here is their tipico Tico response:

Buenos días!!

Varios clientes me han reportado el problema pero no se exactamente donde es el error.

Sin embargo , si desea reservar puede hacerlo por este medio solamente enviando la siguiente información:

Nombre:
Día del servicio:
Lugar de pick up:
Lugar de drop off:
Hora del servicio:
Número de pasajeros:

Cuando tengamos esta información le enviaremos su itinerario con las instrucciones de como garantizarlo.

Saludos!!

Subject: Problema con su website

Quando yo clic en el link por su servicios yo recibo un mensaje que hay un problema:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0009'
Subscript out of range: '[number: 1]'
/services/transportation/find_airporttransfer.asp, line 77

No es posible para mi a resevir un shuttle.

Hay un problema con su website?

Gracias,
--Mark

It is obvious to me that they do not have any in-house tech support & those that provide the support from elsewhere are "out-to-lunch". For the time being I guess that we will have to conduct business thru email.

I can't see how Interbus can make any money at $7.00 per head to & from the airport. I can't see anyone else making money at it at those rates either.

You are right that there are already a large number of (usually) reliable drivers available in CR. It might be tough to set youself apart from the crowd.

Interbus worked out well for me and my two friends, each one of us came in on a different flight over the 4th of july weekend. I will try to use them instead of the taxi. You can't beat the price.

I agree that IB probably isn't making any money, but I disagree about why. The rate ($7) isn't bad, but when you have at most 2 clients per run and you are running large vans, that's not going to make you any money.

If you can pool more clients together (at least 3-4 on every run), and use more fuel efficient cars, you can make money.

great service and price(s) in my experience, poor website though as noted above. Use e-mail (48 hours notice) or phone.

The problem is now fixed. I was able to book on-line about an hour ago.
Good luck!

They picked me up around 12:30 that day. There was a real bad accident between the airport and town with fatalities and it took an hour and a half for my ride. Probably what happened to yours. Stuck in the traffic.

I never had a problem with Interbus airport shuttle until my last trip on July 4th. I logged in on the website, and tried to make a reservation...but kept getting an error. I followed up with a phone call 4 days before the trip and spoke with a rep. He told me to send my details via e-mail. After receiving no response, I decided to pick up my rental car a day early at the airport.

Yep, you're right, I forgot about that. I have never had a problem with them in the past.
