This has been posted for awhile on flyertalk and surprisingly it still works, I just checked on an AA itinerary through Dallas from the midwest that totaled less than $400 total (It was about $750 on Orbitz). LAN.com is apparently not adding the YQ surcharge (the fuel surcharge). The US version of the LAN site also applies a 3% discount.

This works on other destinations too.

Caveat: It appears to only work on the first fares shown, so not all fights work. LAN could fix the "mistake" at any time. I don't know if LAN will try to add the fuel surcharge later, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

That could be great info. I just looked up dates I've been watching and it came up a couple hundred less than anywhere else. However It would really suck to be hit with the fuel surcharge at the airport. Anyone ever actually done this successfully?

Is this just a company providing discounts or an actual airline? My same flights from AA.com that were $663.00 are coming up $403.00 on this website. How does this work? Gracias amigos.

LAN is the principal chilean airline and is one of the largest in South America. It is a member of the One World Alliance.

"This" apparently works because the website is mistakenly not adding the fuel surcharge when totaling the fare. There was (maybe still is) a similar glitch when pricing some multi-city itineraries on Priceline.

PLease do NOT contact LAN, AA, or anyone else with your questions, as they will likely shut down this "loophole"/"glitch" very quickly.

Yes. Reportedly people have successfully completed their itineraries using this loophole.

And IT'S STILL WORKING!

BUMP:

Now that there is a second LAN thread I'm bumping this one up to inform and remind folks NOT TO make reservations by telephone or contact LAN AA BA etc., this will only kill the deal sooner as they become aware of and fix the glitch and ruin it for everybody else.

Keep trying JMac, not all itineraries will be discounted. Eg. Continental doesn't have a separate YQ surcharge so their fares won't be less. See the entire discussion on Flyertalk for itineraries that have been successful:
