Don't want to steal any of Bill's thunder, but we were treated to a tour of the new facility that he has now purchased next door, and it's really going to be something. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed, with all kinds of nice amenities like jacuzzi tubs, etc. There will also be another bar in the area. The whole thing reminded me a lot in look and feel of the setup at the Medellin Mansion. I'm sure we'll hear more from Bill as the opening date approaches, but suffice to say, this is going to be another very attractive lodging option in San Jose. |

I'm hoping we can 1) get a booking, and 2) not have to take out a second mortgage. I'm an SL guy, but Matt's deals are looking persuasive too. LOL |

Apparently some of the neighbors are up in arms over the expansion. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's an article that appeared in La Nación last month: http://www.nacion.com/ln_ee/2008/mayo/19/aldea1526506.html |

Here is that article translated (roughly) by Google: http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... n&ie=UTF-8 Damn, they sound like gringas with all their bitching and moaning. Btw, which one of you fuckers has been making the "erotic sounds"? Hard-working people want to sleep, but have to listen to your "orgies". ![]() |

What's this "witnessing of orgies" baloney? And why the Hell wasn't I invited? Oh wait, I was, but that wasn't at SL, and they couldn't see a damn thing........or at least I hope not. Ooh, that would have been ugly. What place is this: Quote: Sandra Quiros, Heritage Center, explained that one of these informal nightclubs is next to the headquarters of the Chancellery, a few steps from the park Spain. Are they talking about Shannon's Irish Pub?, Or are they talking about the DR farther away? Or some other place? Let's think about this for a minute: Quote: "District Otoya is the last nice place to live in downtown San Jose and are becoming a center of prostitution as are other neighborhoods of the capital," lamented Mary Felicia Vargas. So all other areas in SJ are centers of prostitution and now you say Otoya is too. If every area in your city is a center of prostitution then what does that say about the state of your city? And if it's the state of your city then you shouldn't be whining about a hotel here or there, the issue is pervasive, rampant, and the established status quo. And it's not their operations that are out of whack with the surroundings, it's your puritanism lady. Move. Then there's this (the last sentence): Quote: The Deputy Mayor Clarke, pledged after an interview with La Nacion, to revive an operation in the area in order to eliminate the inconvenience of the neighbors.
I wonder what statue she is talking about and if it's a real issue for Bill etc or if it's just hot air and platitudes from a politician. Two last thoughts: 1) WTF is up with the names of these people like Patricia Woodbridge and Maureen Clarke, are these gringas? 2) All joking aside, in on a serious note, the more i think about this article the more genuinely angry I get that these people would chose to complain about this state of affairs and NOT about the F-ing transvestites and thieves that openly prowl this same area and who are a genuine menace. Seriously, you're going to go to the Council and complain about what happens behind closed doors in a hotel, and you're not going to complain about the street trash that genuinely threatens your entire neighborhood? |
